As we are all aware, a massive 200 mph tornado ripped through the Oklahoma City area on Monday afternoon May 20, 2013 and left a 20-mile path of destruction in its wake. At least 51 people were killed includng at least 20 children.   Rescue crews are continually searching for survivors in the wreckage.  The recovery efforts are in the very beginning stages.    Join me tonight at 10:30 PM on a very special episode of Own Your Life as I delve into the devastation of the the Oklahoma tornadoes and discuss how the recovery efforts will be vital for that area.    I will also discuss the psychological reactions to a disaster and how volunteers, professional, and emergency service personnel cope with such tragedy.   I will explain children's reactions to crisis as well as the role of a disaster mental health specialist in devastated areas.  Finally, I will explore how the media can both help and hinder the recovery efforts.
