Good Afternoon, Welcome to M.A.T.S. The Martial Arts Talk Show, Hosted by Kancho Daniel J. Vena inheritor of Ed McGrath's School of Isshinryu Karatedo & Kobudo and Founder of the IIAOKA. Ed McGrath's School of Isshinryu (E.M.S.O.I.) was established on September 19th, 1959 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Since the start of our dojo we have turned out the best fighters and instructors for our system. The current status of the IIAOKA is that we are growing steady throughout Sensei McGrath's family of dojo's. The students have responded by taking advantage of being a member of the IIAOKA. Sensei's legacy lives here and will continue to develop new students and eventually groom the instructors. Today's program is designed to give you information on how to join our family of dojo's that carry the tradition of my Sensei Ed McGrath. Since he was known as "The Voice of Karate" we use this platform to bring you special updates as well as new and current events. Ed McGrath's School of Isshinryu Karatedo & The IIAOKA will be having the first EMSOI Open Ju Kumite Tournament on or around June 10th 2017. This tournament will feature the fighting aspect of martial arts.  We intend to name a Grand Fighting Champion and award that person with the Ed McGrath Sensei Award for the best in class for fighting. We will have empty hand kata competition as well as empty hand team kata competition. We will also feature Kobudo Kata competition. Each catagory of competition will get presented with awards as well. Our team is working on naming them. Keep in mind this is a first for us and we will need all the help from our instructors, students and parents. Tune in today for some info on the IIAOKA and our new idea about a tournament.
