A florid and poetic history via the song & protagonists of Cuba's national hymn. La Bayamesa originated as a love song from a romantic husband to his estranged wife and later evolved into a popular protest song against Spanish oppresion In Cuba. It later became the national hymn upon Cuban Independence.
