She is no stranger to pageantry, having been competing in pageants for 5 years now. She is a Pageant Historian for Pageant Planet, which is platform that is trying to connect and expand the pageant industry. She is the middle child of three girls. Her favorite color is pink. She has a 1 year old Black Lab mix puppy named Nala. Her fiance is Jeffrey Morris. In her spare time, she loves to watch movies. She is a huge Harry Potter fan, and her favorite character is Hermione Granger because of how smart she is. That is probably what helped guide me to my calling of leading and teaching music in the church.  In addition to pageantry some people don’t know that I am accomplished singer in the Gospel and Country music industry. I have sang with and opened for some of the biggest names in Gospel and Country music.  I have founded a Non-profit organization called Bears that Care. It provides stuffed animals to law enforcement and fire department personnel to comfort people in traumatic situations.  I am extremely active in my community. You can normally find me at any event going on. Whether it is a walk or a meal for charity or making appearances at a pageant or even cheering on my friends and littles at events.  But where my heart is in the community is with our homeless population. My platform is called Open hearts Loving Hands. What that means to me is that we should all have open hearts for those around us and we should serve with loving hands. Matthew, 25:40 ‘whatever you did for one of the least of these of mine, you did for me.’ There are so many homeless that are judged because of their situation that is beyond their control. Instead of judging we should give a loving hand up because you never know when you will be in a similar situation.  Giving to others and helping those in need is the greatest gift you can give of yourself. If selected as the winner, I will go on to represent the state of Indiana at Mrs. America in August 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Mrs. America Pageant is a beauty competition that was established to honor married women throughout the United States of America. Each of the contestants representing the 50 states and the District of Columbia range in age from their 20s to 50s, and earns the right to participate in the national event by winning her state competition. These state events are under the direction of Mrs. America state directors. The winner goes on to compete in the Mrs. World pageant. My family and I currently reside in Vincennes, Indiana after being relocated due to my husband's military service in June of 2015. I am a Home Based Case Manager with Children and Family Services, am a Cardio Kickboxing Instructor and Ring Girl for American Karate Do Kickboxing, and a Team Leader for the March of Dimes, all in Vincennes. My husband is SSG Skyler Dorsett with the United States Army, and he is currently a recruiter after serving 6 years as an infantryman, and deployed to Afghanistan twice, where he received a Purple Heart. Skyler and I have two children; Averly, a first grade student at South Knox Elementary, who is 6, and Marcus, a student at Kingdom Kids Childcare Ministry, who is 2. We have also recently been blessed with receiving a service dog from Dog's Helping Heroes for Skyler named Lyric, who is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her Masters in Instructional Technology from American Intercontinental University. She is currently employed as an elementary school teacher by the DeKalb County School System in Decatur, Georgia. Marchia is also a certified bridal consultant and the Minister of Music at Faith A.M.E. Zion Church in Atlanta, Georgia.    Pageants have always been a strong passion for her, which is evident in the titles she has held. She was Miss Black Indiana University of Pennsylvania (1977), Mrs. Georgia Achievement (2001), US Sophisticate Woman 2003, first runner-up to United American Woman 2004, Georgia Global America Woman (2002 and 2004), first runner-up to Global America Woman (2004), Global America Woman (2005), U.S. United Queen of Queens (2004), US Sophisticate Lady (2005) and in 2008, she retired with the title of World Elite Woman. In February, 2015, Ms. Mickens came out of retirement and won the title of Classic Ms. World Elite.   She is the Founder and CEO of the U.S. United Pageant System, which was launched in July 2004. This national system recognizes outstanding females for their outstanding achievements. Its platform is Breast Cancer Awareness. She believes that pageants offer many opportunities and benefits for women of all ages, shapes and sizes, and backgrounds. Marchia is a “hands on” pageant director and enjoys helping her contestants become the best they can be throughout the competition. She does not believe that a contestant should have to second guess what a pageant system is looking for. She modeled in New York, Chicago, as well as Milan.  Lisa began modeling at 17 yrs, and through college, modeled for many boutiques, the apparel mart, and stores such as Burtons, Southern Belle's , and Rich's. She was very active in High School, served on the Student council, Varsity Football Cheerleader and also served in her community, and was a member of the Beta Club, and The Society of Distinguished American High School Students, graduating in the top 10% of her class. She is a college graduate with a  Bachelors degree in Business Management with a minor in criminal justice. Lisa is an Accredited Miss America Organization Judge, and she has judged on the local, state and National level. Her pageant experience includes, competing, pageant consulting, directing, makeup artist and being a pageant mom.  Throughout her pageant career she has held 16 titles.  She has made a conscious effort to teach girls to give back to their communities and to use their crown to make a difference. Her love for makeup and its artistry also inspired her toward beginning her own cosmetics line. Lisa began her research and after many months of meetings and consulting with several companies, and laboratories also with the input and encouragement of many local H/M artists, Crown Beauty Cosmetics was born. Erica Tucker attends Valdosta State University and currently participates in the Middle Grades Education Program. In addition, she is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Grades English/Language Arts, and Reading. Erica is presently on the Dean’s List. Miss Tucker has multiple hobbies such as painting, reading, tumbling, and going to the beach. When spending precious moments at home, she loves to hang-out with her friends and family. Erica is Involved in many organizations/ For instance, she is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority where she severs as the Community Service Chair. Erica said, “Our philanthropies are Prevent Child Abuse America, and Girl Scouts of the USA”. She stated that they also have a Shamrock Flag Football Tournament every year to raise money for the local Children’s Advocacy Center. We hold Girl Scouts events every season to mentor girls about the importance of being confident. Miss Tucker has future plans to graduate from Valdosta State in December of 2016.
