This program will build upon last week's introduction and will center around understanding what dissociation is and isn't. How and why does one begin to dissociate? How is it different from a fractured identity? In many cases, trauma memories or child abuse took place before they could talk and consequently they may not remember the event in a narrative or as an ordinary memory. DIDs have a more unique coping mechanism to block painful memories and have many memories that were: suppressed, repressed or dissociated.
