Frances Micklem joins us from Harmony Hall in Kilkenny, Ireland following 24 hours standing on the demonstration line in Medieval Kilkenny City. The people are opposing the Central Access Scheme - a hair-brained council plan to build a motorway flyover bridge right in the centre of the city...with no planning permission in place for there to be a road to meet it on either side. In the last years, 5.5 million was spent launching the Medieval Mile, an epic historical and tourist attraction, only now to enrol a cow boy contractor to build a massive road right through it, polluting the river with unwashed lime stone, no safety measures and no agreement from the voters, who recently voted the council in on the basis that this plan would be thrown out. No scale model was made and is still being refused. This show is a first hand account of how old paradigm thinking makes a change difficult. As always, what is called for is presence. Just be there on Green's Bridge for an hour or two day or night with dog, child or a flask of tea to show your presence and support for a solution to be found before it goes too far.
