Rafizadeh is an American political scientist, scholar at Harvard University, policy analyst, author, expert and commentator on U.S. foreign policy and Middle East. Rafizadeh is president and director of the International American Council on the Middle East and serves on the board of the Harvard International Review. He is originally from the Islamic Republic of Iran and Syria. He is a member of the Gulf 2000 Middle East Project of the Columbia University School of International and Pubic Affairs and served as a senior fellow at Nonviolence International. He is also a journalist and human rights activist.
Rafizadeh is frequently called upon to brief U.S., EU and Asian officials about U.S. foreign policy and Middle Eastern affairs. He has taught at several universities such as the University of California, Santa Barbara through a Fulbright Teaching scholarship, has been a recipient of several fellowships and scholarships including from Oxford University, Annenberg, and the University of Santa Barbara. His analysis and research are regularly used to brief various institutions and parliaments including the UK Parliament. Previously, he worked at the United Nations, International Committee for the Red Cross, and conducted research at Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and council on U.S.- Arab Relations.
As a political scientist and scholar, Rafizadeh regularly appears on national and international outlets including CNN, BBC World TV and Radio, ABC, Aljazeera, Fox News, and many others.
