Leader of the Team of Champions for umttr, (you matter) Sue Rosenstock, joins Dave to discuss the need to place mental well-being and caring support at the forefront of young adults’ daily interactions.

Dave’s guest Sue Rosenstock is the Leader of the Team of Champions for umttr, (you matter) a community of young adults leading a movement to change the story from bullying, depression and suicide to a positive and compassionate culture where every person matters.  Sue is also the mother of Evan Rosenstock.

About Evan:

On May 20, 2013, Churchill High School (MD) sophomore and varsity athlete, Evan Rosenstock, took his own life as a result of depression, triggered by a basketball injury, leaving the entire Churchill community shocked and saddened. To prevent other student athletes from ever feeling alone or desperate, a group of Churchill students, along with the Rosenstock family, have created umttr. Their mission is to foster a community of students who know that they matter

How Ummtr accomplishes their goals:

  1. Educating teens on the 5 Signs of emotional suffering;
  2. Identifying and introducing successful, research-based teen suicide prevention programs to schools (Sources of Strength);
  3. Hosting community events and fundraisers;
  4. Sharing the message that every life matters.
  5. Umttr is a component fund of the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region and gives grants to make programs offered by other nonprofit organizations successful to pursue common goals.
