He grew up in Southern California and later went to attend California State University Northridge to earn his degree in Business. After graduation from college John went to work for Jantzen Swimwear and moved to Arizona as a sales representative. In 1991 John decided to make a career change and became an agent with American Family Insurance. In 2006 John left American Family Insurance to start Vanyo Insurance, an independent insurance agency.
