Parent Representation Overivew, Part 2

Lisa Finkey, J.D.,with Finkey Law, LLC in Gillette, Wyoming will provide a two part series focusing on the representation of parents in Wyoming juvenile court proceedings. Ms. Finkey authored, Representing Parents in Abuse and Neglect Proceedings: An Advocacy and Training Guide for Wyoming Practitioners, published by the Children’s Justice Project in 2016 and this two part series focuses on material in the handbook. The presentation will provide information to assist attorneys practicing child welfare law and highlights information contained within the following handbook chapters: representing parents in abuse and neglect cases, the role of counsel, child development and the effects of abuse and neglect, the Wyoming Juvenile Court process, establishing the attorney-client relationship, pre-adjudication advocacy, adjudicatory advocacy, post-adjudication advocacy, federal abuse and neglect law, special issues in abuse and neglect proceedings and related proceedings.
