At the heart of self care is the ability to say, "No." When you cannot say 'no', you spend your time and energy doing what someone else wants you to do. You may recognize that you need stronger boundaries but setting boundaries can be difficult. The inability to say no is nearly always due to guilt and shame, usually false guilt and shame. The first step to setting healthy boundaries is to understand what is preventing you from setting and keeping boundaries that are right for your health and your self-care.
