Vernon Williams was also a founder member of the Notting Hill Carnival in 1964 when he and a group of fellow musicians left the Colherne Pub in Earl’s Court and played music in the streets along Ladbroke Grove and Acklam Road with a large following of people dancing in the streets. This was the foundation of what the carnival street parade is today.
