Tonight, we connect with Lillian Lake, who cared for her mother, grandmother and cousin and currently cares for her husband.

In addition, Lillie Fuller and Cathy Jones will tell us about the chats on CareGiving.com.

About Lillian
Lillian is a Community Visionary. Besides defending her daily jolt of java, she staunchly advocates for several important political and social causes all rooted in an ideal of finding compassionate responses. She started her own business connecting farmers with communities and working on food policy. Through this work, she learned about human trafficking and soon chose to educate on human trafficking. In the mix she has raised a family and filled the role of caregiver to her mom when the “sandwich generation” was more of an idea, rather than the norm. A couple of months after her mom’s passing, she helped as caregiver for her husband’s grandmother. A few years later, she left her business, community, and family to take care of her cousin who was dying from cancer. Today she is caregiver to her spouse.

Some people dub her “caregiver to the world”. She claims she is an accidental caregiver. What she’s learned is the power of compassion which she emphasizes in her organizing, writing, and presenting.

Currently Lillian writes a weekly newspaper column, a weekly blog, and is writing a book expressing her caregiver roles through the power of angels, as well as including interviews of other caregivers. Lillian serves on several community boards and task forces. Over a cup of coffee or glass of wine, she often will wax into issues of human rights and food. She enjoys reading, running, Pilates and visiting museums. Check out her website at lillianlake.com.
