Giving Grief a Voice presents Nancy Berns, Associate professor of Sociology at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and author of Closure: The Rush to End Grief and What It Costs Us

Nancy teaches classes on grief, death, emotions, violence, and justice.   Nancy also shares her ideas about grief through her blog and public speaking, including a TEDx talk titled “Beyond Closure: the space between joy and grief.” Her interest in grief and death became personal after her son was stillborn in 2001.  She combines her grief research and her personal experience with loss in order to help others better understand grief .
