This is Author’s Beat, sponsored by The Writers League of the Villages in central Florida. The program is hosted by award-winning author Mark H. Newhouse and was created by prize-winning national journalist Don Canaan and Mark Newhouse.

Billy Wells is NOT the Billy Wells who initially appears in Google as a legendary sports icon or fisherman. Our Billy Wells, a horror writer, is a unique entity. In fact, one reviewer noted that Edgar Allen Poe and  Stephen King  give their readers a break because some of their compiled stories are at most scary. Billy Wells does not allow you to get your breath. Each story is a "horror" story.

This master of horror and mystery, is also a  prolific songwriter, having written both music and/or lyrics, and has, throughout the years, collaborated with numerous writers and musicians. Wells has also written many poems, short stories as well as one screenplay. He told Author's Beat that he loves movies and had seen over 1,500 by the age of 13. And that, we believe, led him to his love affair with the macabre.
