The D-Day invasion of Europe at Normandy by the allies during World War II took place 69 years ago on June 6, 1944--a day that has been referred to as "The Longest Day."

"Some Wounds Never Heal. "Knockin' on Heaven's Door: A True Story of Courage and Sacrifice" tells of a son researching the deeds of his father during that war. Joe Busi was one of the thousands of Americans who fought in the D-Day Invasion and went through the hell of warfare, only to suffer a near fatal injury in the subsequent Battle of the Bulge.

What Joe Busi experienced changed him, and he lived with guilt until he returned to the source of that guilt, decades later. It is a tale of overcoming the personal aftermath of war. " Don Busi, Joe's son, spent more than two years researching World War II and has conducted several hundred hours of interviews with his father and other veterans.

Author’s Beat, sponsored by The Writers League of the Villages in central Florida, is hosted by award-winning author Mark Newhouse and was created by Don Canaan and Mark Newhouse.
