Irene Fermi was a very different child, all her life. Her quest for normalcy involves a somewhat-dysfunctional family, in which each moment of calm appears to be a victory. Now facing down death, Irene's re-examination of her relationship with her mother shows she might well have been wrong about everything. "In a world impossible to navigate, the true north of The Physics of Things is the triumph of love and the resilience of the human spirit."

Ginny Fite is an award-winning journalist, and the author of novels, poetry collection and short stories. Her works includes "No Good Deed Left Undone," part of the Detective Sam Lagarde series, "Thoughts and Prayers" and "Blue Girl on a Dream Sea." Her collections of poetry include "I Should Be Dead By Now (And Other Post-Menopausal Lamentations)." Stories from "The Physics of Things" appeared in publications that include The Delmarva Review, Women Arts Quarterly Journal.

Ginny lives in West Virginia--her website can be found at ginnyfite.com
