Patino's second mystery, Last of the Good Guys, features Alec Santana, a PI who thinks it odd five of his buddies - all retired officers - committed suicide within months of each other. He discovers what they had in common: they all responded to a fire 15 years ago on New Year's Eve. Alec soon learns that there's more to the story than certain people are letting on.
