Joining us from her home in Carlsbad, CA, is the daughter of a Navy Battalion Surgeon,  Dr. Tom Viti, who served  during 1967 assigned to the Second Battalion Fifth Marines (2/5), 1st Marine Division in An Hoa, the Republic of South Viet Nam.

Lucia, while cleaning the attic in 2001 -  more than 20-years after her father’s passing - stumbled upon a box containing his Vietnam memorabilia, the contents of which left her breathless. It was then she began her incredible journey -  to infuse those dormant memories with the life and recognition that they so richly deserved.

Led by the information she discovered in the box containing her father’s long silent memories, Lucia traveled across America to interview 2/5 Marines who stood alongside “Dr. Tom”, making a record of quips and quotes from those who knew him best.   Dr. Tom’s War – A Daughter’s Journey, is a narrative memoir, depicting a unique crusade for discovery, not only about her father’s life as a Battalion Surgeon in one of America’s most controversial wars, but for the many 2/5 Marines stationed in Viet Nam – to find a few of the a silent majority of men willing to share untold stories.
