One-piece knocks down another piece that knocks down yet another. And although you realize that in life, you often forget that very real ideal. We’ve all experienced it, one thing goes wrong, and then another and then another, and we cry out, “if it ain’t one thing it’s another!” That’s precisely what America is dealing with right now. First, it was Coronavirus and the deaths associated with that. Then it was the lockdown, which lead to unemployment and the massive layoffs, that then impacted the economy, and then you get word of another death of an unarmed black man at the hands of two white men. Shortly after that, you’re told of a white woman threatening a black man, minding his own business, with the police, because he asked her to put her dog on a leash. And finally, you watch for eight minutes and forty-six seconds, while a white cop – really three white cops – places his knee on the man's neck while he begs for his life and tells the police “I Can’t Breathe” to let him up and not kill him, only to have the cop exert more pressure and do precisely that, kill him! The Social Contract, that America is intrinsically supposed to abide by, only applies to white America, because that contract for Black America, has been broken! Hear how Kimberly Jones expresses her view of the Contract in her own way. Parental Discretion Advised. 01:02:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoKimberly Jones,Trevor Noah,Black Lives Matter,George Floyd,The Social ContractSeeking Equality NOT Revengeb2bdf87b-47c1-4a65-ade2-d07743b87f525381fullA Time to Sowhttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/06/08/a-time-to-sowPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/06/08/a-time-to-sow/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/06/08/a-time-to-sowMon, 08 Jun 2020 23:00:00 GMTA Time to SowThe bible says, there is a season and time for everything, every purpose under heaven. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth? I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it. He hath made everything beautiful in his time: also, he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. It is time for Black America to plant, to sow into our destiny, to sow into our future, into our legacy. Our time to plant is now, while the soil is moist. It’s time to sow the seeds that will reap a harvest. After 400yrs it is more than time enough for us as a community, as a people to leave the plantation mentality on the plantation and begin to decide that INDEED, we have something to lose. Our family, our future, our lives. If you don’t believe me, ask Trayvon Martin, Jordan Davis, Eric Garner, Shandra Bland, Breonna Taylor or George Floyd. But the problem is, you can’t ask them. Detective Marq Claxton discusses the George Floyd murder, and "Looting By Any Other Name"  Americans are gathering in major cities across America expressing their frustration anger & ultimate disgust for legalized murder by law enforcement. The continued police brutality that seems to frequently expose itself against Black & Brown people is more violent than any upon a suspected white offender. Reports of protests have targeted African-Americans as the destroyers of their community & purveyor of looting & arson. The news media have continued to label African-Americans looters & antagonists. Looting as define is exactly what our constitution, state & federal laws have been doing to Black Americans for over 200yrs. Looting: is goods usually of considerable value, something held to resemble goods of value, something appropriated illegally often by force or violence, to plunder, to seize & carry away by force, illicit gains by public officials. Law enforcement state & federal governments have been looting Black lives since we were brought here in 1619. Our value our goods (hard labor) has been plundered & seized for illicit gains by public officials. Last week our topic was Black Value, how apropos is it that show proceeded this one. My guest’s Law Professor Sharon Kyle, Minneapolis Ward 4 City Councilmember Phillipe Cunningham, Dr. Wilmer Leon, III & NYPD Det. In some cases, it appears that African-Americans have become too valuable, at least in the eyes of racist GOP revisionists like Ted Cruz who stated that this nation wasn't founded on the backs of slaves. While others, especially those in law enforcement seem to only value black lives when they are dead or in jail. And under our current pandemic, those lives in overcrowded prisons and jails are valued even less; while a treasonous ally of Donald Trump is released from prison to serve out the rest of a 7yr sentence in the comfort of his own home.   In the last 30 days a number of high profile killing of African-Americans have occurred at the hands of law enforcement as well as, the general public. Ahmaud Arbery was viciously killed by the son of a former police officer. An EMT was shot and killed by police after breaking into the wrong home to serve a warrant.  Not to mention Sean Reed who was shot and killed by police while live streaming it all on Facebook.  01:18:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoSince 1619, African-Americans brought here as African slaves have been fighting for rights, equal rights, equity and their names to be cleared off the books of8fe58860-7203-43be-80b6-e386b1bb34fb5378fullWhite Code!https://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/05/11/white-codePoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/05/11/white-code/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/05/11/white-codeMon, 11 May 2020 23:00:00 GMTWhite Code! The senseless shooting of young Ahmaud Arbery 01:01:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoWhite Code!e19c01f2-205f-48ad-9e5c-b40eff85a6955377fullCOVID DETENTIONhttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/05/04/covid-detentionPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/05/04/covid-detention/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/05/04/covid-detentionMon, 04 May 2020 23:00:00 GMTCOVID DETENTIONAcross the country from New York's, Rikers Island to Ohio's Marion Correctional Institution, along with other correctional detention centers and prisons across the country, the COVID virus is highlighting the enormous impact this virus can have that far outweigh the common flu. Correctional Detention Centers are rapidly becoming the new hot spots and breeding grounds for the coronavirus. With more than 2k inmates infected at the Marion facility, many jurisdictions are making determinations about their prison population and how to effectively manage the public’s safety with the need to be responsible during this Public Health Crisis. The question of who should be released early to minimize the infection rate to the sanitation of the facility to maintaining social distancing. Many of these decisions fall on the elected constable responsible for the detention centers, jails, and prisons. Wardens, judges, district attorneys, and sheriffs. Sheriffs, like my friend and recipient of the 2019 BPT Trailblazers Award, and first term, first African-American Sheriff in Durham County’s 140 history, I’m proud to be able to call him friend, and that’s Sheriff Clarence Birkhead. 01:11:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoDemocrats,republicans,COVID-19,Coronavirus,PandemicCOVID DETENTIONe3a9e6b8-c4b9-4bcb-a620-573837cdac775376fullLife...with COVID-19https://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/04/27/lifewith-covid-19Politicshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/04/27/lifewith-covid-19/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/04/27/lifewith-covid-19Mon, 27 Apr 2020 23:00:00 GMTLife...with COVID-19Today, under the greatest strain since 1918, Americans are living under a Life Sentence. A sentence they were given not because they committed a crime. Not because they were an accomplice. No, Americans have a life sentence because their Commander in Chief has deemed them expendable. Expendable for the purpose of personal economic gain, for covering up the truth, and for the purpose of the stock market. Are we at war? As we all know, when at war, there are casualties. And this dude has decided 200k American's are expendable. Two Hundred Thousand, so he can be re-elected, so he and his family can rob American taxpayers, so he and his cronies can capitalize on American carnage.  Fifty-two Thousand Americans have died because of this Commander in Chief. He is the single most dangerous impediment to this crisis. It's criminal what he's done. But, to say inject disinfectant, the charge can easily be MURDER! This man told American's to clean their bodies out with disinfectant. Across the country, African-Americans are dying like plants without water, and all alone. The health disparities, the lack of testing, the systematic racial bias, the lack of access to quality care, the economic strain, and the inability to even get to the hospital for treatment. Each of these barriers contributed to the increasing mortality rates of my brothers and sisters. African-Americans cannot be deer's in the headlights; crossing the road at night is dangerous to your health. It's not going to disappear with the warm weather, but yes, it will be a miracle when it's gone. Joining me tonight to discuss the Life Sentence America has been given by this administration is Dr. Judy Lubin, Founder of CURE, Rep. Jason Fields, D-WI, and Mr. Antwanye Ford, Pres/CEO DC Black Chamber of Commerce.  01:19:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoCOVID-19,CARE ACT,Black America,Black Women,Black AgendaLife...with COVID-193bbc39ea-353e-4266-8288-5699660fcb375374fullBlack Plight, The Hidden Realityhttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/04/20/black-plight-the-hidden-realityPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/04/20/black-plight-the-hidden-reality/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/04/20/black-plight-the-hidden-realityMon, 20 Apr 2020 23:00:00 GMTBlack Plight, The Hidden RealityWith COVID-19 impacting the world around us, American's have become less interested in the preservation of life and more interested in the preservation of their 401k, the economy and the stock market, that less than 20% of Americans participate in and where 89% of Americans, aren't benefiting from it in the first place. Eleven percent of the American population control 83% of the nation's wealth. Eleven percent.  Now, we understand the fear, the plight, and the uncertainty in which we live today. But we also understand that the second round of COVID-19 may treat America like a second bout with Cancer, more deadly than the first. The Hidden Reality is, as more reports of the victims of COVID-19 became more revealing, the attitudes towards "staying-in-place" and shutting down cities and states become less reasonable and more intrusive than the virus itself. With the realization that in many states across the nation, 50, 60 to 70% of the deaths are African-Americans. It seems that once that realization was made, that individuals, White individuals, began to speak out about opening up our cities and states because the economy and small businesses were more important than the lives that drive them. Clearly suggesting that since it's Black Lives, that America can move on. None more than TV Doctor Oz saying a 2%-3% child mortality is okay. Our deaths were expendable, weren't worth the value of securing our nation, only for securing their profits. Dr. Phil said COVID-19 isn't as bad as those dying in poverty or swimming pool accidents. Noting that 250 people per year die from poverty and the majority of those are Black. Tonight we'll discuss the Hidden Reality!       01:30:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoCOVID19,Donald Trump,Nancy Pelosi,Chuch Schumer,Dr. FauciBlack Plight, The Hidden Realitya4d32b9a-affc-4d27-b27c-90515b1049305373fullSleepwalking in America...https://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/04/13/sleepwalking-in-americaPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/04/13/sleepwalking-in-america/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/04/13/sleepwalking-in-americaMon, 13 Apr 2020 23:00:00 GMTSleepwalking in America...With so much happening during this critical year for social, economic, and political engagement and empowering; it sometimes feels like we're sleepwalking to an uncertain end. This country is in a National Pandemic, every state in the land is affected and impacted by the Coronavirus. And yet, this White House has become so negligent and careless in their handling of this Pandemic that no one can ever say or suggest that this White House has ever LEAD this country in any meaningful manner when they tell the American people, we don’t need to test everyone, and the states are responsible for bidding and ordering their own ventilators, masks, and protective gear. And then you have Jared Kushner, saying things like this, “The notion of the federal stockpile it’s supposed to be our stockpile it’s not supposed to be states stockpile that they then use…” This White House felt the virus was a national emergency, so they declared a national emergency, and yet they have not addressed the national need. Donald Trump has called this a War, and yet he hasn’t implemented or enforced the Defense Production Act or anything else that should be done if we were in an actual War. If we are in a war, you don’t leave it to each individual state to fight the enemy in its own way. You do so on a national scale, not a local or state one. This Administration for the past three years has thrown so much at the American people I think that some, just like the folks in this administration, are Sleepwalking their way through it all hoping that when they wake up it will be all gone. The problem with that type of thinking, is when will they wake up? And if Black America and Democrats in this country want any chance of surviving Trump's era and turning the tide to recover what we’ve lost we must vote. Our country is in a crisis and we have to ask ourselves is this person we want leading us. America can't afford another 16,250 lies and another four years. Our lives literally will depend on it. Then he said, that he wouldn't even call governors if they didn't praise him for his handling of this national pandemic. The grotesqueness of his statement means that innocent Americans will die unless governors from certain states bow down and kiss the ring. As someone who is supposed to be the leader of our nation, Donald Trump is more concerned with receiving praise for causing this national disaster than he is in helping states in our union save the lives of their residents. Today we have more than 100k COVID19 cases and over 1,575 Americans dead! This is the Cost of Stupidity and the Volatility of COVID19. Now with an Administration that is clearly out of its league in governing our country, local and state jurisdictions have had to scramble to save their fellow countryman and states from devastation. The Trump Administration has yet to pull the trigger on his emergency declaration calling on manufacturing and other companies to produce goods for America's national interest. Instead, he's claimed the virus will disappear.  At a time when neighborhoods are suffering financially as a result of COVID19, the 2020 Census is being conducted to ensure that $850B is distributed properly to those much-needed communities. But is the word getting out strong enough in the black community to be heard? Then in Florida, the State legislature has pass legislation to limit the ability for Floridians to establish an initiative to place on the ballot, similar to their efforts to restore the voting rights of nearly 1.4M returning citizens. Now the Republican-controlled legislature has not only denied those voters their rights, but they've also limited Florida's residents' ability to place a constitutional amendment on the Florida ballot.  In the coming weeks, an all Vote-by-Mail election will be held in Maryland to determine who will finish out the remainder of the term left vancant by the sudden passing of Cong. Elijah Cummings.  So, tonight we speak with Dr. Maya Rockymoore Cummings, Rep. The federal governments response to this deadly disease has caused more people to die and others to get sick with the virus. Between 1878, when the amendment was first introduced in Congress, and August 18, 1920, when it was ratified, champions of voting rights for women worked tirelessly, but strategies for achieving their goal varied. Some pursued a strategy of passing suffrage acts in each state—nine western states adopted woman suffrage legislation by 1912. Others challenged male-only voting laws in the courts. Militant suffragists used tactics such as parades, silent vigils, and hunger strikes. Often supporters met fierce resistance. Opponents heckled, jailed, and sometimes physically abused petitioners. A hundred years ago in 1920, women gained the right to vote in America. On May 21, 1919, the House of Representatives passed the amendment, and 2 weeks later, the Senate followed. When Tennessee became the 36th state to ratify the amendment on August 18, 1920, the amendment passed its final hurdle of obtaining the agreement of three-fourths of the states. Secretary of State Bainbridge Colby certified the ratification on August 26, 1920, changing the face of the American electorate forever. As we celebrate the year 2020 and the 100th year for women, let's be mindful that with six women in the Presidential race, none emerged as the party nominee. And yet, outside of a very small core group of tribalists, Americans are struggling to know what to believe and who to trust?  With Super Tuesday in less than 12 hours and nearly 1300 delegates up for grabs, every potential candidate with any chance of winning a majority of the delegates is crisscrossing the nation looking for that elusive Black vote that will take them over the top. The question will be, who will Black America decide has their best interest at heart.   Returning to the broadcast tonight is Durham's finest, Sheriff Clarence Birkhead, Durham County Sheriff to give us an update on his progress in his first term and the tip of his second year in office.  01:16:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoDonald Trump,Sheriff Birkhead,Democratic Primaries,Super Tuesday,Bernie SandersOver the past three year's America has experienced a dramatic shift in its social, economic and political norms.  The Trump Administration's attack on civility057f8d37-7687-4de5-bb3e-e7ffd60b22345366fullThe Real Deep State - Trumps Corrupt Administrationhttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/02/25/the-real-deep-state--trumps-corrupt-administrationPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/02/25/the-real-deep-state--trumps-corrupt-administration/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2020/02/25/the-real-deep-state--trumps-corrupt-administrationTue, 25 Feb 2020 00:00:00 GMTThe Real Deep State - Trumps Corrupt Administration Breitbart, Tucker Carlson, Shawn Hannity, and the rest of the GOP have continuously portrayed Democrats, Progressives and anyone who opposes Trump's corruption as being a part of the "Deep State." The GOP used to call themselves the "family values" party, but no more! The Republican Party has become nothing more than Donald Trump's whores as he pimp slaps them into shape for fear of retribution by their P.I.M.P. D.O.N. T. Every last member of the GOP from local, state to national levels have all become Donald Trumps, Bitches! They vote to acquit someone whom they publically say broke the law, and yet they don't punish. If the same Articles were brought against Barack Obama, you can bet your ass and your house, that those same spineless dogs would be up in arms about it and voting to not only impeach President Barack Obama but remove him from office. As Lindsey Graham said..."Cleanse the Office."  Well.... come this November, Democrats better be ready to cleanse the office of not only Donald P.I.M.P Trump but also of Moscow Mitch, Lying Lindsey, Shaky Susan, and Menopause Murkowski, along with Big Mouth McSally and Timid Tillis for voting to acquit an admitted criminal and crook. But what should we expect from the Party of Rush Limbaugh and Steve Bannon and Pimple Face racist Steven Miller, absolutely nothing! Because that's exactly what the Senate has done, Absolutely NOTHING!  So, tonight we'll ask you, what do you think, should Test Tube Baby Trump been acquitted? Should the Senators and jurors be in lock step with the White House? If this was Barack Obama's White House or Hillary Clinton's, is there any doubt that these rednecks would have impeached and removed him from office.  No way would they have been silent. Have you ever planned out your tomorrow with the expectation of excitement and joy? Have you ever made the comment, tomorrow isn't promised to you? Or don't put off for tomorrow what you could do today? In each of these cases, the idea is that tomorrow will be better than today. If only that were true. The 2020 social, economic, and political season is well on its way to being a tsunami for the American people. Moreover, with this administration, that tsunami is almost guaranteed to erupt over the course of the year. From impeachment to the elections, and throw in the 2020 Census and the citizenship question for good measure. America and its democracy are under attack from none other than the one person who has been charged to protect it, Donald John Trump.  Tonight, we look at the future of America and try to analyze America’s future and the impact it will have on Black America’s future. Because America’s future is not always Black America’s future. So, we’re going to take a look at this years elections and the impact of an Iowa Caucus can have on Black America. How the Impeachment trial can impact Black America. And how if given another four years in office this individual that they call the President will impact Black America. The truth is, Black America doesn’t like Donald Trump and therefore don't see the harm he can inflict upon them. In 2019 Congress swore in the most African-Americans (55 out of 535) in Congress. 2019 saw a string of mass shootings by deranged white men, proclaiming to be mentally ill, yet they weren't ill enough to not by the gun they used to kill innocent people. Supreme Court ruled that partisan (i.e. racial gerrymandering) was legal. Trump declared that he was above the law and Article II gives him complete power, but Congress reminded him that Article I gave them the power to check him and conduct lawful investigation into his power and criminal activity.   In 2019, we discovered that White Supremacy is alive and well, not just against African-Americans but Latinos as well. The Texas shooter wrote a manifesto laced with racial slurs against Latino Americans.  The Black community also saw 19 Black women get swore-in as judges in Houston,Texas; and the first Black Mayor of Montgomery, Alabama. African-American Presidential candidates, Senator Corey Booker and Kamala Harris, saw themselves fighting to attract Black voters to their campaigns and their ability to raise money to stay in the race.   So, as we reflect over 2019 and look forward to 2020, what will this Administrations, the 2020 elections, and Black America bring in the new year and what will that impact look like on the Black Community?  My guest tonight is Dr. Wilmer Leon, III, host of Inside the Issues with Wilmer Leon, author, and former adjunct professor of Political Science at Howard University.    01:31:00Kelly Mikel Williamsno2020,Trump,Elections,African-Americans,BlackRearview Mirrorea1784a0-c4ec-4335-bc8d-c8c343ddd9995351fullSenator Kamala Harris and the Power of Black Womenhttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/12/24/senator-kamala-harris-and-the-power-of-black-womenPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/12/24/senator-kamala-harris-and-the-power-of-black-women/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/12/24/senator-kamala-harris-and-the-power-of-black-womenTue, 24 Dec 2019 00:00:00 GMTSenator Kamala Harris and the Power of Black WomenIn 2017, Black Women rose to the occasion and made their voices heard like they had been doing for the past 10 years. Yet, when it comes to their ability to obtain a cannabis license to sell within the legal guidlines of various state governments, its virtually impossible for them to get approved for a license to sell the product legally.  With recent moves in Congress, one barrier may have been lessened or eliminated as a result of local banks getting the green light to provide lending to small business owners.   Our guests tonight Ashlei Stevens and Tre'Von Dorsey share their insight and knowledge on this new opportunity and process for potential African-American business owners.     01:08:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoBlack Politics Today,Black Politics,Politics,Congress,Donald TrumpAfrican-Americans and Medical Marijuanad17fea5f-85c6-4a50-8111-1d8669405cc7Law Enforcement You Can Trusthttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/11/05/law-enforcement-you-can-trustPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/11/05/law-enforcement-you-can-trust/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/11/05/law-enforcement-you-can-trustTue, 05 Nov 2019 00:00:00 GMTLaw Enforcement You Can TrustOne of the most anxious areas for Black Men is in dealing with law enforcement.  Historically, African-American men regardless of their social-economic status, and in some cases, their celebrity status, have always experienced harassment, judgment, and even violence in their encounters with law enforcement. So when you can find law enforcement that you can trust, you may want to acknowledge it, keep it, praise it, just as much as if it weren’t. And tonight, that’s exactly what we’re going to do. Joining me tonight is Durham County’s first African-American elected Sheriff in Durham’s 140yr history and BPT’s 2019 Trailblazer Awardee Sheriff Clarence Birkhead.  And later in the show, we’ll have Georgia State Senator Vincent Fort.   01:09:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoLaw Enforcement You Can Trustd9e757dd-978d-489a-96eb-0e97481d08355345fullThe Coming of Age - A Black Legacy!https://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/10/28/the-coming-of-age--a-black-legacyPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/10/28/the-coming-of-age--a-black-legacy/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/10/28/the-coming-of-age--a-black-legacyMon, 28 Oct 2019 23:00:00 GMTThe Coming of Age - A Black Legacy! So, Tonight… The Coming of Age – A Black Legacy! As we hear the angles in heaven singing with the joy of the Lord as they welcome home one of God’s angels, in Elijah Cummings, we now mourn the loss of another giant amongst African-America leaders, in former Congressman John Conyers, who passed at age 90, this past weekend. Both these men left a personal and public servant legacy that will likely stand the test of time.  On Friday, Congressman Cummings, in the presence of former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary Hillary Clinton, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Mark Meadows, and Jim Jordan, along with dozens of Congressional members…. the Son of Baltimore was eulogized and laid to rest with an inspiring and honoring message by his pastor Bishop Walter Thomas.  So tonight we’ll discuss the coming of age – a black legacy with our esteem guest, a icon in his own right. An advocate, an leader, and public servant for African-Americans. He is the Director of the NAACP’s Washington Bureau and Senior Vice President for Advocacy and Policy.  He is the former Director of Government Affairs for the UNCF, and member of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute. He is the recipient of numerous awards, for which he is most proud is the National NAACP Medgar Evers Award for Excellence. The highest honor bestowed upon a national member of the NAACP.   My guest tonight a first time, and hopefully not the last, is Mr. Hillary Shelton. 01:17:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoNAACP,Hillary Shelton,Elijah Cummings,John Conyers,Black CaucusA Black Legacy!6711a794-a5af-4033-92a0-bc9c94fa24075344fullGone to Soon...Reflections of Cong. Elijah E. Cummings Life Leadership & LegacyOn Thursday, October 17th the City of Baltimore, the State of Maryland, and Congress lost a leader, a giant of a servant and a man of great integrity and pride of his beloved home town.  Congressman Elijah E. Cummings, served his district and state with passion and distinction for more than three decades. During that time he's served on the committee that ushered in the Consumer Protection Board because he had a concern about people of color being used but credit card companies, banks, and payday lending institutions. He has a passion to make sure that the constituents in his predominately minority community wasn't taken advantage of because they had a need for credit, but couldn't afford the discriminatory practices of these companies. Tonight, we'll speak with former Civil Rights President and CEO of the National Association of the Advancement of Color People (NAACP) and former Maryland gubernatorial candiate Ben Jealous on his reflections of Congressman Elijah Cummings legacy.   01:06:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoBen Jealous,Elijah Cumminds,Maya Cummings,Maryland Democrats,MarylandGone To Soon...Reflections of Cong. Sgt. Robert Olsen was found Not Guilty today because he told jurors he was scared to death of unarmed, demented, and naked Air Force veteran Anthony Hill.    So, tonight we look at A Star is Born, while Another is Killed.   Joining me tonight is political strategist and educator, Nate Benham. 01:15:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoAtatiana Jefferson,Anthony Hill,Judge Steven Reed,Montgomery Alabama,AlabamaA Star is Born, while Another is Killed74ca7b5c-5227-4abd-b11e-2173aa8eebf95342fullThe Blunt Truth Medical Marijuana and African Americanshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/10/07/the-blunt-truth-medical-marijuana-and-african-americansPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/10/07/the-blunt-truth-medical-marijuana-and-african-americans/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/10/07/the-blunt-truth-medical-marijuana-and-african-americansMon, 07 Oct 2019 23:00:00 GMTThe Blunt Truth Medical Marijuana and African AmericansIn the fight to legalize cannabis, William Summer suggests, one of the most compelling arguments has been the social justice argument--that legalizing cannabis will stop the disproportionate enforcement of cannabis laws on the on the African-American community. Although 16 percent of African Americans reportedly use cannabis, compared to approximately 14 percent of whites, they are 3.5 times more likely to be arrested for cannabis-related crimes than their white counterparts, according to The Brookings Institution. But while this fact has been used as a cudgel to beat back the tide of prohibition, it has also laid bare a rank hypocrisy that permeates throughout the industry: the complete lack of African-American entrepreneurs. According to Marijuana Business Daily, approximately 81 percent of cannabis business owners or founders are white, while only 4 percent are African American. This begs the questions: Why are there so few African Americans in the cannabis space? What is it that's keeping them out of the industry, and how can they succeed ever in this changing environment? He puffs up his rhetoric and has other minions to follow through with his dirty work. During his time in the White House, he has fashioned himself after the real Teflon Don, John Gotti, the Gambino crime boss. John Gotti, who escaped punishment for years until he was caught on tape talking about his crimes and one of his liuetenents, turned states evidence against him. He was eventually convicted and sentenced to life for murder, racketeering, money laundering.  Donald Trump has so far escaped punishment for his lying, corruption, violations of campaign finance laws, profiting while in office, etc. But unlike Teflon Don, Donald Trump is the biggest wimp, I've ever seen trying to play crime boss. Like all bullies, they squeal once you hit back. And like most 6yr olds they resort to name-calling. This 72yr old insecure, narcissistic, lil wimp, Tapestry Don, is nothing more than a little boy wrapped in an adult body. He’s still looking for daddy’s approval. Just like the real Don, it looks like Tapestry may have gone too far this time. Even with his great lawyer, Bruce Cutler, couldn’t keep Gotti out of prison for opening his mouth one too many times.  Tapestry Don is walking down that same pathway as Gotti and Richard Nixon. And like Gotti and Nixon, there are tapes. So, how will the American people look at this moment in history and more importantly, how will congress handle it?  Joining me tonight to discuss Donald Trumps inevitable impeachment is Greg Stewart GOP supporter and trusted ally and Dr. Wilmer Leon, Professor and Host of Inside the Issues with Wilmer Leon on Channel 126 on XM Radio every Saturday.     01:17:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoDonald Trump,Impeachment,Congress,Republicans,UkraineTapestry Don - The Wanna Be Gangsterf2984603-508e-48ab-88ac-44d44100e4505340fullTest Tube Trump...A Crook in Plain Sighthttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/09/23/test-tube-trumpa-crook-in-plain-sightPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/09/23/test-tube-trumpa-crook-in-plain-sight/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/09/23/test-tube-trumpa-crook-in-plain-sightMon, 23 Sep 2019 23:00:00 GMTTest Tube Trump...A Crook in Plain SightOn Friday, the nation learned of an Inspector Generals report of a whistleblower shedding light on what could turn out to be misconduct by Donald Trump. By all reporting accounts, which was first reported by the Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump had eight conversations with the President of Ukraine seeking his support to provide dirt on Joe Biden in the upcoming Presidential election.  In response to the Ukrainian’s President’s refusal to investigate Biden, Donald Trump threaten to hold back congressionally approved military funding and support, unless the Ukrainian President did what he asked.  Much of this has been confirmed by Donald Trumps personal attorney, Wayward Rudy Guiliani.  In addition, to the continuing saga of Donald Trump and Rudy Guiliani, Senator Cory Booker announced that he needed to raise $1 million by the end of the month if he was going to be able to continue in the Presidential race in 2020.  On top of all that, General Motors is on strike threatening the economy and the middle-class voting block Trump promised to make their lives better.  Returning to the show tonight is my good friend and Trumpian support Greg Stewart. Poverty is an uncomfortable conversation in the Black Church because it seems to disrupt the plan of material prosperity as found in the hierarchical visions of the denominational Black Church. Black poverty has already materialized itself within the ministry of the local church and community she seeks to serve.   Theologian, J. Deotis Roberts, believes that the Black Church is the one political institution that is poised to provide liberating services to Black people in their bondage of economic deprivation. Roberts surmises, "Black theologians and churchmen must use all of the power at their disposal to liberate and humanize life for black people. The black church is a slumbering giant. The conversation of poverty in the Black community must be taken seriously because it holds cultural currency in sacred institutions and secular environments; especially where the politics of our nation is concerned.   Because of the theoretical shift from economic (wage distribution) and political policy (wage increase) to cultural and behavioral patterns in the everyday life of Black folk, politicians avoid the conversations on how racism and capitalism negatively impacts the social, economic, and political lives of Black Americans.  So, what part has institutional, and historic racism played in the everlasting poverty that continues to exist in the Black community?   Joining me tonight is author, and pastor Dr. Darvin A. Adams I to share excerpts from his recent article Black Poverty: What Our Preachers and Politicians Must Address; in the September issue of Black Politics Today.      01:20:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoBlack Church,Politics,Black Politics,Dr. Darvin Adams,DemocratsBlack Poverty....19493cfc-592e-4dfe-9218-0abe5fc4912d5338fullHere Come's The Sheriffhttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/09/09/here-comes-the-sheriffPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/09/09/here-comes-the-sheriff/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/09/09/here-comes-the-sheriffMon, 09 Sep 2019 23:00:00 GMTHere Come's The SheriffHere Comes the Sheriff, Sheriff Clarence Birkhead of Durham, NC.  Durham County Sheriff Clarence F. Birkhead announced the creation of the “Sheriff’s Community Advisory Board” (CAB) and encouraged local residents to participate in this new initiative to better connect the local community with law enforcement. “During my campaign to become Sheriff, I promised our office would follow a model of transparency, engagement and accountability,” said Sheriff Birkhead. “The mechanism to truly fulfill this promise is the Sheriff’s Community Advisory Board. Applications are now open for all Durham County residents to participate and serve. I look forward building upon the good working relationships our office has established with all segments of the Durham community. This initiative will build trust between law enforcement and the community we serve.” At a press conference, Sheriff Birkhead stressed CAB will not follow the model of citizen review panels which are commonplace at other law enforcement agencies across the United States, whereby those Boards review appeals by citizens who file complaints on dispositions imposed by the Chief of Police or his/her designee. What makes this initiative unique to Durham County is that CAB will become the forum to discuss concerns, needs and offer solutions in order to create safer communities. “No one knows better what’s going on than the people we serve,” Sheriff Birkhead said. “CAB will build enduring partnerships by building trust between law enforcement and the community.” 01:04:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoSheriff Birkhead,Durhan NC,Black Sheriffs,Democrats,RepublicansHere Come's The Sheriff25331f17-35b9-4971-8062-9f5c3867d4805337fullIt's About Us!https://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/08/12/its-about-usPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/08/12/its-about-us/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/08/12/its-about-usMon, 12 Aug 2019 23:00:00 GMTIt's About Us!Tonight, It's About Us! Why you may ask? Because our lives depend on it!  So, tonight we take a look at 'what's at stake' for us. As we walk this journey called Life, in the 21st Century, the year 2019, what are the major aspects of our life and in society that we need to be the most vigilent about making sure we are educated, enlightened and empowered to defend? I would submit to you, that it is our social, our economic, and our political future. Becuase, if left unprotected, if left unsecured, if left in the hands of those whom have always dictated the process and the outcomes, for us, then we will be left to recycle a Century of 'What If's, or How About, and Maybe's" that ultimately left us in segregated communities with little to know services. Subpar public educational institutions, high rates of poverty and unemployment, bias and racially charged judicial encounters, making us no better off today, then we were when black folks lived under the laws of Jim Crow.  So, "What's At Stake" for us, and how are we going to respond to it? Tonight when we ask that question and my first guest can answer that question. She can define that question in its most starkest terms. She can bring the answer to that question to life? She can make something so abstract become real. Why can she do that? Because for the past four years, in a matter of 2.6 seconds, 'What's At Stake' became her reality! The shooting in Dayton, the 21yr gunman made his racists intentions known. The second murderer, in his own rage, subsequently kills his own sister. These are the issues that should have Durham County Sheriff, Clarence Birkhead up at night, not legislation from a republican controlled legislature or a GOP U.S. Senator, seeking to strip him of his office or fine him because he decided not to volunteer, for a "Volunteer" program, that republican's now want to make mandatory, and violate the constitution.  Sheriff Birkhead, one of eight first time elected African-American Sheriff's took his oath of office and swore to uphold the constitution not violated it for political purposes, and in doing so, he's been attacked and vilified. But Sheriff Birkhead, is standing tall and strong. In his first year, Sheriff Birkhead is making progress and breaking down barriers and helping communities see the Sheriff's office as a friend not a foe. That's because Sheriff Birkhead, uses his head and not his gun to solve the problems of the community and allows the community to be heard from, not just talked too.   So, tonight it is a privilege and an honor to have Sheriff Clarence Birkhead as our exclusive guest to discuss the issue of mass shootings in our society, but more importantly, to talk to him about what he's doing in Durham County to bring people together and allow them to share their grievances and be heard.  Tonight, we explore the Tale of Two Sheriffs.    01:01:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoDurham County Sheriff,Sheriff Clarence Birkhead,Durham NC,HB370,Senator Thom TillisThe Tale of Two Sheriff's7bc1dcfb-3dc6-4315-810c-29476e6f99135336fullWe Count, Will You?https://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/07/29/we-count-will-youPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/07/29/we-count-will-you/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/07/29/we-count-will-youMon, 29 Jul 2019 23:00:00 GMTWe Count, Will You?The 2020 Census will provide over $850 Billion in funding for cities and communities across the country. That allocation of dollars would support efforts for community block grants, public education, healthcare, housing, and so many social safetynets for vulnerable Americans. In addition, the results of the 2020 Census will determine state representation in your state and in congress. With partisan gerrymandering now constitutional, electoral district lines will increasingly be drawn based on the racial makeup of the communities being divided, likely increasing a republican or conservative leaning district and ultimately state.  By not participating in the 2020 Census, black communities will suffer astronomically. Much needed dollars for education, healthcare, housing, community development will be lost! Additionally, representation at the state and local levels would be in jeopardy as well. Unfortunately, the education behind the census reporting has been weak and devalued, leaving major swaths of the black community ill-informed about the impact of failing to respond to the constitutionally mandated census reporting.  With preparation for such a critical national operation, our focus must be on ensuring that the African-American community is completely engaged and informed about the power of their participation. They cannot allow themselves to be left out of the $850 Billion lottery. Music is a continual thread in our culture and society, and it has always had an impact on our social, economic, and political environment. So much so, that song’s were written to address issues in our nations history as far back as slavery, from songs our ancestors sang to give them strength, or to let others now what was going on, or just to thank God for another day. Music has been a powerful tool. Even today, music still has an impact on our political landscape, its always had a seat at the table. During segregated times and Jim Crow, or the Vietnam War, songs were sang in protest. Lyrics were pinned to express the feelings and moods of the people. And it’s no different today. And music will continue to be a part of our social, economic, and political fabric.   My guest tonight join me to discuss music and it's impact on our community but also on our social, economic, and political environment and what it means to African-Americans as they look to the 2020 Presidential Elections.   He's musician, artist, and entertainer on the move, with his hit arrangment being debuted on the silver screen for Netflix, Mr. Blake Holmes; and the fire rattler of Independant artistry, Mr. Black Bobby.   01:12:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoBlack Bobby,Blake Holmes,ATL,DC,NetflixThe Intersection of Music and Politics in American Society28e1eec7-682b-4dc1-a3b0-08c616102bcf5334fullBlack Law - The Rise of African-American Sheriffshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/07/01/black-law--the-rise-of-african-american-sheriffsPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/07/01/black-law--the-rise-of-african-american-sheriffs/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/07/01/black-law--the-rise-of-african-american-sheriffsMon, 01 Jul 2019 23:00:00 GMTBlack Law - The Rise of African-American SheriffsBlack Law! For Centuries African-Americans have been living under the discriminating thumb of White Law. White racist law! Across this country black men, women, and children have been subjected to slave law, white mans law, Jim Crow law, Bull Conner Law, U.S. Justice Dept. Law, BOY Law, Central Park 5 Law, and because I have a badge law. In each of these cases, the law has not favored people of color by any stretch of the imagination. And even when it seems as if the scales of justice are beginning to lean in that direction, their is an immediate correction to remind us that the law is not our friend.   But, this past November there is another glimmer of hope, at least in a few states and counties. In North Carolina, there were eight glimmers released by the Southern God's. He opened the windows of North Carolina, and poured out blessings that overflowed onto eight counties across the state: Durhan, Wake, Guilford, Pitt, Mecklenburg, Cumberland, Buncombe, and Forsyte, where each of them for the first time elected an African-American as their chief law enforcement office. They've changed white law into BLACK LAW. Tonight we speak with two of those newly elected sheriff's and discuss their new positions, and their vision for their respective counties.     01:18:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoBlack LawBlack Law - The Rise of African-American Sheriffsc3be69a0-5af1-48a6-91b6-f9178f013268North Carolina's Urban Sheriff'shttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/06/24/north-carolinas-urban-sheriffsPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/06/24/north-carolinas-urban-sheriffs/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/06/24/north-carolinas-urban-sheriffsMon, 24 Jun 2019 21:00:00 GMTNorth Carolina's Urban Sheriff'sAcross the country we have witness state legislatures lead by republicans continue their assault on the minority communities all across the nation. Starting with the Voter ID law that was said to ensure that no one voted illegally and that no undocumented immigrant voted because they wanted democrats to win. Well from George W Bush to Donald Trump, they have sought to find illegal voting in the black and brown communities, and with only two exceptions, every time the looked for someone they found the violators were white, middle class, and republican.  Now, the assault is on a specific and targeted group of Black elected officials who, as a result of the 2018 general election shocked the state of North Carolina with the election of 8 new Black Sheriffs and those eight, represent the largest counties in the state. As a result, they have now been dubbed the “Urban Sheriffs!”  And the republican lead state legislature is trying to strip them of their office and their powers as Sheriff.    Rep. D Hall, Republican has introduced a bill HB370, because of what he has called “Urban Sheriffs” have decided not to enforce the law by detaining undocumented immigrants that he feels should be detained, even after a judge, has mandated that the individual can be released.  Rep. Hall, therefore, feels that the African-American Sheriffs are to do the job of the federal government and act as ICE agents for the federal government, and if these 8 black newly elected sheriffs do not cooperate, then they will be removed from office by a judge. Not by the people who elected them, but by an appointed judge, whom they believe will best suite their interest.    Joining me tonight to discuss this piece of legislation is Senator Floyd McKissick, Democrat from Durham, and newly elected Sheriff of Guilford, County Danny Rogers. 01:07:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoSheriff,North Carolina,HB370,Black,WhiteNorth Carolina's Urban Sheriff's6c6985c2-d1e4-431c-bb0c-2916e849c3a65333fullWhen They See Us!https://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/06/17/when-they-see-usPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/06/17/when-they-see-us/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/06/17/when-they-see-usMon, 17 Jun 2019 17:00:00 GMTWhen They See Us!With the pure unadulterated police misconduct and racist behavior of everyone involved in the case, that the film “When They See Us” exposed, to the current days voter suppression, police unarmed shootings of black men and women, to the lengths in prison sentencing that African-Americans are still suffering from, to the news coverage that our black and brown presidential hopefuls get from mainstream media and even Black media, is a castration of the Black influence on this nations social, economic, and political infrastructure, and it must be addresses and resolved even within the Democratic party. Tonight, It's About Us! My guest tonight is Shamaria Rice, the mother of Tamir Rice, the 12yr old boy who was tragically and vicously murdered by Cleveland police officer Timothy Loehmann.  01:03:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoTamir Rice,Cleveland,Cleveland Police,Timothy Loehmann,WhiteIt's About Us!04a0f3ab-cf59-4752-bafd-dd2365bded3d5331fullAmerican Justice - Will the Constitution Standhttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/06/03/american-justice--will-the-constitution-standPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/06/03/american-justice--will-the-constitution-stand/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/06/03/american-justice--will-the-constitution-standMon, 03 Jun 2019 23:00:00 GMTAmerican Justice - Will the Constitution StandWith the election of Donald Trump in 2016, the tenets of justice have been slowly dismantled with each new day and each new denial Trump makes. As a routine for application in the Trump Administration, breaking the law, or allowing him to break it, obstruct, dismantle and outright ignore it in any way has become the routine of GOP lawmakers and cabinet appointees. AG Barr and Acting AG  Whittaker both auditioned for their posts by publicly calling into question the integrity of Bob Mueller's investigation. These supposed public servants are nothing more than self-serving genocidal treasonists who have turned a blind eye to every aspect of the Constitution that they so righteously would hold up on the floor of the House of Representatives as their calling card of democracy. And in one fail swoop, they have all coddled and quipped every move Donald Trump has made. Even going as far as to allow him to violate the very institution and constitution they railed President Obama for eight years on.  Moreover, during the 2018 Mid-term Election Republicans swore and promised they would protect America's health care and that people with 'pre-existing' conditions wouldn't have to worry about losing their health insurance. Well, what a difference an election makes. Now Donald Trump has instructed his Attorney General to actively support a courts ruling that the Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional.  To end the Affordable Care Act all together; to completely dismantle it without a plan to replace it kicking more than 50 million patients off the health care rolls is absolutely abhorrent.  Tonight, we'll take a look at the threat of closing down the Southern Boarder, the need for a complete release of the Mueller Report, the tragic deaths of little Raniya Wright, and rapper, activist Nipsey Hussle.   01:40:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoNipsey Hussle,White House,Bob Mueller,The Mueller Report,RepublicansWill the Constitution Stand5b4c5f06-32ad-4105-80d7-b10ad4aab3c2Election Consequences Allow GOP to Stack the Deckhttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/05/20/election-consequences-allow-gop-to-stack-the-deckPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/05/20/election-consequences-allow-gop-to-stack-the-deck/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/05/20/election-consequences-allow-gop-to-stack-the-deckMon, 20 May 2019 23:00:00 GMTElection Consequences Allow GOP to Stack the DeckDuring the 2016 Presidential campaign progressive democrats who embraced Sen. Bernie Sanders social and economic policies, as democrats, abandoned those policies with the nomination of Sen. Hillary Clinton. In fact, those Sanders supporters, embraced the policies of Donald Trump by turning their backs on their professed support for democratic values, and instead blindly and selfishly voted against their own interests and supported Trump, Mitch McConnell, and 32 Republican Controlled State Legislatures. Those same progressives, post inaugural, in 12 States, joined together, men and women to march in protest of what they had done just a month prior, when they felt more comfortable with Donald Trump then they did with Hillary Clinton.  These same progressives, Obama and Sanders supporters, then rallied against Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch and Brett Cavanaugh instead of voting to stop it. Now, these same white women and men, are now marching in 19 states because the reality of Women’s Rights are being threatened by the crouch grabbing, misogynistic, narcissists as they prime the pump for the overturning of Roe v Wade.  With more than 107 federal judges appointed in 2yrs, those progressive women and men who sat on their asses for Hillary are now seeking to stop republican controlled state legislatures, as they take control of the courts, and pass laws denying a women’s right to choose, voting rights, and healthcare. The GOP's Quest for TyrannyDo you remember when the constitution actually meant something? Do you remember when it actually meant something to the breast pocket carrying Republican Party? Remember when anything the Democrats did was 'Violated the Constitution?' In 2016, everything about the U.S. Constitution went out the window with the election of Donald Trump. Today's Republican Party can't seemed to remember anything about the Constitution or the Rule of Law. From Guliani admitting that his scheduled trip to Ukraine was designed to get the Ukrainian government to investigate claims on behalf of Donald Trump to help him in his re-election bid, to the investigation one of Trumps Presidential opponent, Democrat former Vice President Joe Biden's son, in an effort to dig up dirt on Biden. In fact, in five states the GOP is on another mission to overturn Roe v. Wade by passing legislation at the state level that would prohibit a womans constitutional right to have an abortion. Their strategic intent is to pass legislation in republican controlled states in order to eventually get the conservative leaning Supreme Court to overturn the 14th & 15th Admendments. With Ohio and Alabama (proposed) having the two most severe versions of these anti-abortion rights laws; the GOP is moving swiftly to pass these laws and force women underground, causing even more deaths as a result of illegal abortion procedures.  Joining me tonight is Ohio State Senator Sandra Williams and Alabama State Senator Bobby Singleton, along with Political Strategist Nate Benham; Karlton Thomas, Director of Entrepreneurship, Urban League; Rebekah Caruthers, and GOP Trumpers, Greg Stewart and Ralph Chittams.  02:01:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoAbortion,Tyranny,Constitution,Constitutional Crisis,TrumpConstitutional Crisis! We’ve experienced a lot of firsts.  In some cases, we get a second, and a third, and then it becomes commonplace.  During 2017 and into much of 2018 we begin to see the firsts of white people calling the police on black folks just because they didn’t like what they were doing like buying groceries, getting medicine, or how about being an entrepreneur and selling water on the corner. How about using a coupon for your purchase. All of this came to life in 2017 and 2018.  White people became visceral in their distain for black people and began to express themselves through the true prisms in which they beheld...RACIST Prisms. White Nationalist Prisms, Bigoted Prisms. And in 2019, more than 140 years since Jim Crow started and merely 70 years since it was abolished, we got a whole lot of White Folks, Putting on Black Faces.  As many of you have seen and or heard about the VA Governor admitted that back in college and in medical school he had put on blackface when he dressed up like Michael Jackson for a talent contest. The Attorney General of the same state admitted that he had done the same when he was 19.  You had Gucci pull from their shelves its $900 black sweater which pulled up over your mouth and nose, with a mouth cut out with bright red lips big fat lips, and they had a white girl modeling it. You had Prada last year pull its products that featured two monkeys with bright red lips. And even recently, after the monkey incident, they came right back and put out some black shoes, for Katy Perry, that literally had eye and red lips on the shoe, to symbolize a blackface shoe. WTH, is America Coming too!?  01:15:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoWhite Folks, Putting on Black FaceIMPEACH! The Democratic DilemmaRobert Mueller's report details events of both Donald Trump, his campaign and White House staff continuously lying, colluding, cooperating, and even conspiring with Russians and others to defraud the American people of a legitimate and fair election.  Additionally, Donald Trump attempted to use his power as President to force others to lie, cheat, and evade the truth, ultimately obstructing justice in the Counter Intelligence investigation. Trumps prevasive and ominous behavior exhibits a deliberate disregard for the Office of the Presidency and the American people.   Democrats now have the dilemma, use the evidence provided by Robert Mueller on obstruction of justice and the dissemination of stolen data by the Trump campaign and Trump himself with his White House staff, and open an investigation into the impeachment, or do nothing and allow Donald Trump to set a new precedent for the actions of a sitting president and get away with murder.  What will they do?  Joining me tonight to discuss this vitally important issue for the American people are Rebekah Caruthers, Ralph Chittams, Jr., Greg Stewart, and Dr. Wilmer Leon.       01:05:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoMueller Report,Robert Mueller,Impeachment,Donald Trump,DemocratsIMPEACH! This budget seeks to bankrupt working class Americans both black and white. It has no syncical theme for logic when it calls for a $750B increases military spending for a war that in December was declared a victory; and where other military spending is going to regions in which we have announced a withdrawal of troops.  Adding to the unrealisticness of the proposal, this budget also cuts domestic programs by $2.7T which is a direct hit on the working middle class in this country. No real leader would ever put his people in harms way when they could actually undergird them like we always do our military, and support their growth and recovery rather than only looking to corporations who return nothing to the American people.   Tonight we weigh in on the drastic budget cuts, the white supremacy, the Manafort sentencing which piles on more white privilege and the glaring difference in American between whites and blacks; from education to sentencing to even the White House. City Councilmember Vincent Orange, Executive Director of Covenant House Washington, Dr. Madye Henson, and Political Strategist, Rebekah Caruthers, Ralph Chittams, Prof. Dr. Omekongo Dibinga, Financial Services Consultant, Kevin Kimble and Anthony Stewart, along with Anne Arundel County Constituent Services Director, Ms. Jenese Jones. 02:18:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoDemocrats,Republicans,White House,Politics,BlackWhat's At Stake8dfbe089-6ccd-4b76-bed6-675b676a448a5312fullBlack Law - African American Justice in a White American Societyhttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/02/19/black-law--african-american-justice-in-a-white-american-societyPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/02/19/black-law--african-american-justice-in-a-white-american-society/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/02/19/black-law--african-american-justice-in-a-white-american-societyTue, 19 Feb 2019 00:00:00 GMTBlack Law - African American Justice in a White American SocietyOver the past 10 years, African-American men and women have found themselves on the opposite end of the barrel of law enforcement. Numerous white police officers have shot and killed hundreds of unarmed black men across the country; inciting the establishment of advocacy groups like The Color of Change, Black Lives Matter, and bloggers like Shawn King and others.  New York Cities, "Stop and Frisk" laws, and the dilemma of dealing with police officers proclaiming that they were in fear of their lives, from 'unarmed' black man, has caused angst and agony among members within the black community. But in 2018, much of the ole' guard vision has been destroyed in the State of North Carolina.  Because on November 6th, eight of the states largest counties with the largest cities, decided that enough was enough, and change was due.  By an overwhelming margin, eight new black men and one woman, were elected sheriff, the chief law enforcement officers of their respective counties. We’ve experienced a lot of firsts.  In some cases, we get a second, and a third, and then it became commonplace to see us.  During 2017 and 2018 we began to see the firsts of white people calling the police on black folks just because they didn’t like what they were doing - like buying groceries, or getting medicine, trying to fill a prescriptions, or how about being an entrepreneur and selling water on the corner. How about using a coupon for your purchase. All of this came to life in 2017 and 2018.  White people became visceral in their distain for black people and began to express themselves through the true prisms in which they've held…RACIST Prisms.  White Nationalist Prism...Bigoted Prisms... And in 2019, more than 140 years since Jim Crow started and some 70yrs since it was abolished, we've got a whole lot of White Folks, Putting on Black Faces. And they're putting them on in spite of the racial overtones, in spite of its history, in spite of any backlash. White Folks are Putting on Blackface in our face in 2019 without a care in the world. And in some cases, even to try to be like us. The election of Donald Trump has literally put the safety and character of black people and this country in jeopardy.  Joining me tonight to discuss the irony and the appalling nature of it all, is none other than BPT Contributor, Principle of Caruthers Consulting, and Progressive political strategist, Rebekah Caruthers, along with Civil Rights attorney, activist, president and founder of Transformative Justice Coalition and host of "Igniting Change with Barbara Arnwine, is Barbara Arnwine.   01:15:00Kelly Mikel WilliamsnoBlack History Month,Civil Rights,Social Justice,Equal Rights,BlackfaceWhite Folks, Putting on Black Faces958e652d-844b-4f46-a3de-94eaace5359e5310fullThe State of the Union Addresshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/02/05/the-state-of-the-union-addressPoliticshttps://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/02/05/the-state-of-the-union-address/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/blackpoliticstoday/2019/02/05/the-state-of-the-union-addressTue, 05 Feb 2019 00:00:00 GMTThe State of the Union AddressThe State of Virginia found itself in an unforeseen position of discovering that their newly elected Governor Ralph Northam had either posed as, or allowed the picture of two white men, one in blackface and the other in a Klu Klux Klan robe and hood, to be placed in his Medical School yearbook.  The idea of the sitting Governor posing either in blackface or as a KKK member is appalling and unfortunate.  After 35 days under a Trump induced government shutdown and the discovery of additional Russian interference and connection to the Trump campaign, tomorrow evening, Donald Trump will speak to the nation in his second SOTU Address, prime off his induced government shutdown Add to that, the change in policies that Trump and his administration have implemented in there first two years, the question now becomes, what exactly can or will Donald Trump say is the State of the Union?  To discuss that with us tonight, is Ralph Chittams, GOP Political Strategist, Chairman and Executive Director of Urban Red. Urban Red’s mission is to find a Conservative candidates to run for local office in no more than 25 of the largest urban cities. Also, Democratic Political Strategist and BPT Analyst Rebekah Caruthers. Rebekah is a political and government relations professional and has worked on projects and political campaigns in nearly every region of the United States. At the moment, more than 1M Americans are finding out what’s at stake. Right Now, more than a Million Americans are finding out that elections have consequences. Right Now, more that a Million Americans are finding out that even when you support the racist rhetoric and actions of this illiterate jackass, that it's your ass that gets caught, and you're the one that suffers.  Right Now, Millions of Americans are finding out, that when you vote for a fool, you become that fool.  And you can’t run from your vote. That’s why so many white republican women, voted for democrats during the 2018 mid-terms, because they realized that their blind allegiance in 2016 came home to roost when their family member with a pre-existing or new health condition arised; they realized they had to make a change. Because, right now, Millions of white rural republicans who have been furloughed or are working without a paycheck and voted for this racist A.D.D. excuse for a President, aren’t as happy and supportive about the Lock her up chants that they so readily engaged in during the 2016 campaign. Especially, given that nearly 40 people involved with the Trump campaign or administration, have either been indicted or plead guilty to federal crimes.  And on a daily basis, that individual tells a lie every 3 hours. And the irony is that he would call Ted Cruz, Lying Ted…. Well over the past two years, it’s been nothing but Lying Don. All across the country black men and women were elected and re-elected to offices locally, on the state level and nationally. Some of the greatest gains happened in Houston Texas, were I mentioned last week 17 African American women were elected and two re-elected to the bench and serve as judges in the Harris’ County, Texas.  Then even further south, in North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana you had black men, elected as Sheriffs, in areas that no black man has ever represented. You’ve had in one case 8 black sheriffs elected in NC, an Unprecedented number.   So, what is Black Excellence? What is Black Excellence, what will it produce? Joining me tonight to help provide some clarity to that question, and more is, Ms. Rebekah Caruthers, Principle at  Caruthers Consulting, a political strategy and consulting firm. Rebekah has a law degree and has worked on campaigns from the Midwest to the South and back up the Eastern Seaboard. The disparity in income between blacks and their white counterparts continues to grow. According to a census report, blacks make 60 percent of that of whites, and in a scale of the median household income, blacks ranked last. So how can African American's compete in todays global economy? To help me answer that question,  My guest is David Weild IV, he is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of IssuWorks, an investment banking firm, and the former Vice Chairman of NASDAQ. He is widely recognized as the "father" of the JOBS ACT and has been heavily involved in drafting legislation for the US Congress. Weild spent 14yrs with Prudential Securities, where he was head of global equity transactions for the firm.  He later moved to head the company's technology investment banking business. After serving as President of PrudentialSecurities.com, David moved into the position of vice president of corporate clients at NASDAQ, where he eventually became its Vice Chairman.  David has studied the economic impacts on the African American communities.
