TAKING THE DIS OUT OF DISABILITYhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscottTAKING THE DIS OUT OF DISABILITY will be a thirty minute program geared toward bringing pertinent information and concerns that impact the lives of nearly 60 million Americans and one billion persons around the world who are physically, mentally, chronically, developmentally and terminally disabled... those who many within society discriminate against, ignore, disrespect and treat in the most cruel and inhumane manner. Some feel that if the person with the disability could just be fixed, through medicine or divine healing, then they will be able to live a purpose-filled life, along-side his or her able-bodied brothers and sisters. We will present a forum that will bring to light the real issues that challenge those within the disabilities. We will discuss whether the American For Disability Act of 1990, has been effective and, if so, to what degree. We acknowledge the continued struggles that people with disabilities face on a daily basis, and will reveal the significant contributions that people with disabilities have made within society throughout history, even until this present age. We will also vigorously dispel every false notion that disability automatically means inability.enCopyright Bishop Gerald Scott (C/O Blogtalkradio)Fri, 14 Jun 2019 23:15:00 GMTTue, 01 Nov 2016 20:00:00 GMTMotivationBlogTalkRadio Feed v2.0https://dasg7xwmldix6.cloudfront.net/hostpics/3feef1ed-8c31-4f51-b4d4-5f8746c3255f_10422247_698137280312363_8956334821304027277_n.jpgTAKING THE DIS OUT OF DISABILITYhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscottTAKING THE DIS OUT OF DISABILITY will be a thirty minute program geared toward bringing pertinent information and concerns that impact the lives of nearly 60 million Americans and one billion persons around the world who are physically, mentally, chronically, developmentally and terminally disabled... those who many within society discriminate against, ignore, disrespect and treat in the most cruel and inhumane manner. Scott: JUDGING OTHERSToday our 30 minute discourse will be on the subject of judging others. The scriptural text will be taken from the Gospel according to St. Matthew found in chapter 7, verses 1-5.  Judging others is a prevailing problem in human nature. It began with Cain's murderous feelings of envy and jealousy towards  his brother Abel and it it continues on until this very hour. Hatred, fights, wars and even genocide have their roots in our negative judgments of others. We form opinions and establish biases towards people without even having firm evidence of what we think is true is, in fact, really true. 00:30:00BishopGeraldScottnoJudgment,Prejudice,Honest,Self-ExaminationBefore we rush to judge others, we need to first consider what we still need to work on.THE BOOK OF JAMES: A LETTER FROM THE BROTHER OF YAHSHUAhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2015/04/20/the-book-of-james-a-letter-from-the-brother-of-yahshuaThe Biblehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2015/04/20/the-book-of-james-a-letter-from-the-brother-of-yahshua/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2015/04/20/the-book-of-james-a-letter-from-the-brother-of-yahshuaMon, 20 Apr 2015 22:00:00 GMTTHE BOOK OF JAMES: A LETTER FROM THE BROTHER OF YAHSHUAThis evening we are going to continue to take an indepth look at one the most controversial and insightful books of the New Testament, The Letter of James. As previously noted, James was the half brother of our Lord, Yahshua Ha Mashiach, aka, Jesus The Christ. (Mark 6:3; Acts 12;17; Acts 21:18) Like Yahshua, his older brother,James was not called James, the Englishized version of his name, but rather, by his Hebrew name, Ya'akov. Among the primary subjects addressed by James are: warning against prejudice (2:1-13); faith and works (2:14-26); the use of the tongue (3:1-12); worldliness (4:1-17) and, prayer for the sick (5:13-16). (FOOTNOTE: Ya'akov/jJames,the brother of Yahshua, was known as James The Just. He was not an apostle, but rather an  overseer (bishop), selected by the apostles.James was the Bishop of Jerusalem and remained so until his death in 62 AD.  Though selected and consecrated by the apostles to the office of Bishop; it appears that he carried as much weight, if not more, than the apostles who appointed him (Acts 12:17; Acts 15:13-19). James, like the other early church fathers, was martyred. James was stoned and then beatten to death with a club, in the holy city of Jerusalem in 62 AD.)   01:17:00BishopGeraldScottnoEquality,Faith,Works,Righteousness,PrayerThis evening we are going to continue to take an indepth look at one the most controversial and insightful books of the New Testament, The Letter of James. This church was established in the port-city of Corinth, making it a very wealthy commercial center throughout the region of the Mediterranean. As a result of their geographic location, Corinth became a very important commercial city, with many immoral distractions.  The vice industry arose within Corinth. Vices such as prostitution, political corruption, alcoholism and the breakdown of the family unit led to the creation of a city that was noted for everything sinful. This information prompted him to write what we know as the 1st letter to the Corinthians. He opens up by reminding those in the church then, as well as the church now, that every church, irregardless of who founded it, is a Church of God. In other words, every church is a Beth'El... HOUSE OF GOD. Next, Paul, in the first ten verses of his letter mentions the name of Jesus Christ (Yahshua Mashiach) ten times. If the Apostle was going to deal with the difficultities within the church, He was going to do it by keeping the name of Yahshua/Jesus front and center in everything that he was going to say. Nothing was going to be said contrary to what Jesus the Christ (Yahshua Ha Mashiach) taught and lived. Christ was and remains the firm foundation upon which the Church stands... all other ground was, is, and will forever be, sinking sand. Paul goes on to discuss the various factions within the church.. those that were of the school, if you will, of Paul, the school of thought of Peter, and teachings of one known as Apollos. Paul's response, is an interesting one, he poses a few questions, like, "has Christ been divided? Paul (he himself) was not crucified for you, was he? Or where you baptized in the name Paul? The answer to all of these questions is an obvious one, NO!...and because it is no, we must remind ourselves of the answer; and the answer to each of these points is our Lord,Yahshua/Jesus. It is He that unifies us,,, It is He who died for us, and in His name we are baptized. 01:32:00BishopGeraldScottnoCHURCH,DIVIDED,CHRIST,RECONCILIATION,UNITYAs we have been looking at the Church of God at Corinth, we have discovered certain facts that can be observed even in today's 21st century church.  First andBE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING, JUST HAVE FAITHhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2015/03/09/be-anxious-for-nothing-just-have-faithSpiritualityhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2015/03/09/be-anxious-for-nothing-just-have-faith/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2015/03/09/be-anxious-for-nothing-just-have-faithMon, 09 Mar 2015 22:00:00 GMTBE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING, JUST HAVE FAITHDid you know that one of the leading causes of heart attack and stroke and a major risk factor for developing heart disease is hypertension;, and hypertension is brought on largely by stress and anxiety. Previously, we learned that Corinth was a center of trade as well as a sinful city. We learned that the Apostle went to the city in the year 50 AD and stayed there for two years, preaching and winning many souls to Christ. Upon his departure from the city, he was informed, by many of the believers there, that the church had become divided over certain issues. From this report, Paul penned his first letter to the Church at Corinth. The letter begins with two points that he emphasized. The first is that this church, and every church that is established, is a church of God. Secondly, in the first ten verses, of Paul's letter the name of Jesus Christ occurs no fewer than ten times. In doing this Paul wanted to remind those reading his letter to always keep before them the central character of any church... the common thread that binds the people within the Church of God together, i.e., Jesus the Christ/ Yahshua Ha Mashiach. This letter was to a church divided over personalities, schisms, traditions and doctrines. Now Corinth was a city-state located on an isthmus (a narrow strip of land connecting two larger land areas, usually with water on either side) that joined the Peloponnesus Peninsula (The southern most tip of Greece) to the mainland of Greece. Because of where Corinth was geographically situated it was a city that was a meeting place of many nationalities and cultures. It served as a trade center between Asia and western Europe.. The city boasted of an outdoor theater that could seat 20,000 people, and often hosted athletic games the rivaled the ancient Olympic Games of Greece itself. It also was the home of the Great Temple of Aphrodite (Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love). This pagan temple housed over 1,000 prostitutes. The city was known for its corruption and immorality. Their debauchery was so blatant that the phrase, ":to act the Corinthians" meant to practice fornication. Many of the problems, and divisive issues that flowed throughout this city was a direct result of the sin and wickedness that festered in the hearts of the people that lived there. To this city, Paul first came to preach, in the year A.D. 50, during his second missionary journey. Paul stayed there for nearly two years, preaching and winning many souls to Christ. After leaving, Paul wrote the Corinthian church a letter, which was lost (5:9), but, learning of disturbing news about some believers from other believers (7:1) prompted the apostle to write 1 Corinthians. Now Corinth was a city-state located on an isthmus (a narrow strip of land connecting two larger land areas, usually with water on either side) that joined the Peloponnesus Peninsula to the mainland of Greece. Corinth was noted for everything sinful. To this city, Paul first came to preach, in the year A.D. 50, during his second missionary journey. Paul stayed there for nearly two years, preaching and winning many souls to Christ. After leaving, Paul wrote the Corinthian church a letter, which was lost (5:9), but disturbing news about some believers from other believers (7:1) prompted the apostle to write 1 Corinthians. Problems there included divisions in the church (1:11), immorality (chapters 5;6:9-20), as well as questions concerning marriage, the role of women in the church, food, worship and the resurrection. This letter was written from Ephesus (16:8). Come with us, as we begin to understand the church established in Corinth... a church divided. 01:45:00BishopGeraldScottnoConversion,Corruption,Division,Truth,UnderstandingThe Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Corinth because they suffered from division and immorality. Our scriptural reference has been taken from chapter 5 of the Gospel According to St. Matthew.  We discussed how we are not to change a "jot", the smallest letter (in the Hebrew alphabet) or a "tittle", the stroke that changes one letter into another; for example, a capital "P" into a capital "R", of God's Word.  We reminded you that changing God's word can be deliberate and intentional on our parts, or it can be the result of others doing it for us. Take paraphrased bibles, for instance... bibles like the Living Bible and the Message Bible. A paraphrase bible, by merely defining what a paraphrase means, are bibles that reword something written or spoken by someone else. Now there are versions of the bible that also challenge the command of Christ to not change anything given to man by God. Versions like the NIV (New International Version) omit whole words, sentences and verses from other scriptural manuscripts. An example of this can be found in comparing the King James Version and the New American Standard Version with the NIV.  In both the KJV and the NASB, there is a verse 21 in chapter 17 of St. Matthew, in the NIV, this verse is completely omitted. The verse says, "Howbeit, this kind (mustard-seed faith) goeth not out but by prayer and fasting." The NIV, and the learned theologians who created it, thought this verse  not important enough  to include it. Other passages omitted are, Matthew 18:11, Mark 11:26 and Acts 8:37, to name but a few. Christ also established a broader standard of living then either the Torah or Tamid. Tonight we will be turning our attention to chapters 6 and 7 of St Matthew's Gospel, in order to discover further life-changing truths, taught by our Lord and Savior, Yahshua Ha Mashiach/ Jesus the Christ. 01:33:00BishopGeraldScottnoYahshua,Truth,Obedience,Redemption,SalvationFor the past few weeks we have been examining and discussing some of the most powerful teachings of Christ. Thus far, we have concentrated our study on examining the lessons taught in the fifth chapter of the Gospel according to St. Matthew.  Previously, we have noted that the standards established by our Lord were much more stringent than those mentioned in the Mosiac laws of the Old Testatment. For example, we learned that the Old Law stated that only if you literally murder someone would you be guilty of murder; but Christ said, that if you allow anger to fester and grow, in your heart, and if you call someone, empty-headed, moron, or stupid, or you refer to someon as a fool,.. you have committed the act of murder already, punishable by spending eternity in hell.  Also, the Old law said that only the act of aduiltery would bring the charge of adultery against you, but Yahshua/Jesus said, "if you look at a woman to lust after her, you have already committed adultery in your heart." Tonight we will be discussing Christ's standards concerning retaliation, giving and Christian love. 01:33:00BishopGeraldScottnoChrist,Teachings,Truth,Life-changing,RedemptiveFor the past few weeks we have been going over some of the most significant teachings of Yahshua/Jesus, found in the book of St. Matthew. We were there with Him as He was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River, and observed His confrontation with Satan. We went over His most significant teachings, his parables and the marvelous healings and miracles that He wrought, during His brief three years ministry. The pages on His life were turned to the most tragic, yet triumphant episodes of His earthly sojourn, culminating in His crucifixion and resurrection. We are now going to travel with Him as He lives among men as the risen Savior. We are going to discover what kind of life He lived during the forty days before He ascended into Heaven, and what things He was able to do with His new and improved, glorified, body. Now of these nine gifts, the gift of speaking in spiritual tongues is the most controversial today, within the Christian community. The spectrum level of belief concerning this gift ranges from those who teach and believe that speaking in tongues no longer has a place within the life of a believer, it has become obsolete; on the flip side of the coin, there are still others that strongly believe that without it (the gift of tongues), you do not have the Spirit of God, either dwelling in you or filling you; and denying its presence, brings a question, at best, as to the genuineness of your claim of being saved. Then there are those that believe that the gift of tongues should be used publicly, while others believe it is just part of one's individual prayer life - the way we personally communicate with God. Well, this evening we will be dealing with every aspect of this wonderful gift, given through the Blessed Holy Spirit. We discussed and learned the roles that predestination and free-will play in the Salvation plan of God for Mankind. We learned that we have been saved by the grace of God, through faith in His only Begotten Son, Yahshua Ha Mashiah/Jesus the Christ. We were taught, through studying the Book of Ephesians, that all believers are united in one Body... that being the body the endured 351 lashes from the lictor who carried out the torturous act of scourging and the six hours of unimaginable pain and shame that He suffered on the Cross at Mt. Calvary.. that body being, the Body of Christ. By His supreme sacrifice we have become reconciled to God the Father, having put to death the emnity between the Father and mankind.. enmity that began in the Garden of Eden with our first parents, Adam and Eve. Through the Christ, we have access to both the Father and the Holy Spirit. We also discoverd that the reunited relationship between man and his Triune God, is longer limited to the Jews, but to everyone who confesses Christ as Lord and believes that He rose from the dead. Paul reminds us that " there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. We discussed, at great length, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which we refer to as the five-fold ministry; the gifts of, apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher. In this letter, we are admonished to  lay aside lying and stand on the truth; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and to let all bitterness, wrath, malice and slander not be named among us. Be imitators of Christ, as beloved children and do not participate in deeds of darkness, but instead, expose them. This idea stems from the Universalist belief that God's love and mercy will plead the case of every human being,  the righteous, the unrighteous, the believer and the unbeliever as well as the saint and the sinner, all will be saved in the end. All humans go to Heaven... from Mother Theresa and the Apostle Peter to Adolph Hitler and Sadaam Hussein.  Some consede that there are those among us who are so evil that they may have to go to a place where they are converted to the truth, getting their mind and the hearts ready to finally go to heaven.. but, in no way has the God, who Himself is love, prepared a permanent place of never-ending torture like hell. Any God that does this is a god not worth serving.   To make matters even worse we have famous and highly influential Christian ministers, or so they profess to be, that feel as though, anyone who has a spiritual conscienceness, or  faith in any deity, is in truth serving the God spoken about in the Christian Bible, whether you call him Allah, Buddah, or Brahman, you will be amongst the Christian saints in heaven. They will not say that Christ's words in St. John 14:6 apply to everyone, so they sheeply say, "I just don't know."   01:24:00BishopGeraldScottnoHELL,LIES,TRUTH,FACT,FANCYThe Truth About HELL  We have men, like Carlton Pearson, a former renown evangelical preacher, turned guru of a new philosophy, i.e., The "Gospel of Inclusion"A Word For The World Presents: HELL'S THREE Ws; What, Where and Whohttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2014/05/05/a-word-for-the-world-presents-hells-three-ws-what-where-and-whoSpiritualityhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2014/05/05/a-word-for-the-world-presents-hells-three-ws-what-where-and-who/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2014/05/05/a-word-for-the-world-presents-hells-three-ws-what-where-and-whoMon, 05 May 2014 22:00:00 GMTA Word For The World Presents: HELL'S THREE Ws; What, Where and WhoTonight we will be discussing a very hotbed issue. Many times people feel as though they are not qualified to be used by God. Even many within the Bible itself felt this way. Abraham and his wife, Sarah, both, felt that they were too old to fulfill God's plan for their lives, i.e., being parents to a child who would lead his descendants into becoming God's chosen people. Moses used five excuses for not going to Pharoah... ranging from " not knowing enough about you" to "I have a thick and slow tongue". Isaiah the prophet felt that his "unclean lips" disqualified him from being an instrument that God could use. What do you believe about yourself that you feel makes you unworthy or ill-equip to be used by God? We also, spoke on the topic of "The Cost of Discipleship". In that message we discussed the Godly commission that He has placed on everyone who calls Him Lord; that is, we are to care for one another, share with one another and earnestly, love one another, especially the disenfranchized among us. This week we are going to return to our general theme concerning society's traditionally negative atitude towards people with disabilities. Ableism (the belief that people with disabilities are inferior to those who consider themselves "able-bodied") is very much alive in the 21st century. I read a story this weekend that proved that prejudice, discrimination and even hatred towards the disabled is by no means a thing of the past. The news story was about a father who had a 7 year old son with Cerebral Palsy. This "man" despised his son so much that he physically and emotionally abused the boy everyday of his life, referring to him not by his given name, Jori, but rather, calling him "dummy". He even used that derogatory name when being questioned by the police; but I am ahead of myself. The story goes that this "man" took his wheelchair bound son into the kitchen and killed the boy by beheading and dismembering him with a meat cleaver. He then left the decapitated head by the roadside, outside his Louisiana home, so that the boy's mother would find it. 01:22:00BishopGeraldScottnoDisability,Ableism,Cruelty,RedemptionOver the past few weeks we have preached about Jacob wrestling with the Angel of the Lord and though walking away limping, he nevertheless was blessed, becomingTHE HOLY SPIRIT: The Gifts of the Holy Spirithttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2014/02/11/the-holy-spirit-the-gifts-of-the-holy-spiritSpiritualityhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2014/02/11/the-holy-spirit-the-gifts-of-the-holy-spirit/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2014/02/11/the-holy-spirit-the-gifts-of-the-holy-spiritTue, 11 Feb 2014 23:00:00 GMTTHE HOLY SPIRIT: The Gifts of the Holy SpiritWelcome to another episode of "He Said, She Said, But What Does God Say? But, What Does God Say?" Over the past few weeks we have been the discussing the truth and reality of the Third Person of the Godhead, i.e., the Blessed Holy Spirit. Last time we meant we attempted to examine the difference between the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the Filling of the Holy Spirit in the lives of those who profess and confess Yahshua HaMashiach/Jesus the Christ as their Risen, Lord, Master, and King. We learned that the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is a gift given at the time of one's conversion. The Filling of the Spirit is a ever- developing process.. every round goes higher and higher. When you are "filled with the Holy Spirit" then the Holy Spirit is not merely sought when you need Him, as God's side kick, or as a feel-good daddy; when we are "filled" with the Spirit.. we allow the Holy Spirit to lead our way everyday in everything.  A true believer, who matures daily in his or her Christian walk, can never be empty or absent of the Holy Spirit. Like I said about Yahshua and His Lordship, "either He is Lord of all in our Lives, or He is not Lord of at all in our lives... all or nothing at all.; so it is with the Holy Spirit, a believer either has the indwelling Holy Spirit filling him or her everyday in every way, or he or she are not being guided by the Spirit at all. Paul the Apostle makes the point clear in Romans 8:9, "If any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His (Christ)." Tonight we will look into the the gifts given to us by the Blessed Holy Spirit, which equip us in serving God and our fellow human being; and we also are going to disect the Fruit of the Holy Spirit, to get a better understanding of the role each part plays in the quality of the fruit. 01:29:00BishopGeraldScottnoGod,Holy Spirit,Power,Presence,Precious GiftsWelcome once again to our weekly program, "He Said, She Said,. I would like to note that our program name has changed from "Disabled People Are People Too" to "Inclusion: No One Denied, No One Ignored" Tonight's Episode is entitled, "Where Is the Sacrifice- The Counting the Cost of Discipleship". I believe that this topic is very appropriate on this particular evening, on the day that we commemorate the life, work and sacrifice of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Here was a man, a Godly man, that was a college graduate, pastoring one of the leading churches in Montgomery, Alabama, the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. He could have decided to rest on his laurels and retire from that charge, afer maybe some twenty or so years, and then become known merely as the twentieth pastor of the church. King, however decided that fighting against racial injustice, biogtry and segregation was more important than just resting on what he had already achieved in his personal life. He surely counted the cost of becoming the leading non-violent civil rights activist in the nation, from 1955 to 1968, the year he was assassinated. He was jailed, lied on, beaten, spit upon and finally killed by a sniper's bullet on April 4, 1968. He knew that his tragic end was a possibility, but he counted the cost and was willing to pay this price, with his very life. You and I are faced with the same question... are we ready to count the cost of discipleship? Are we willing to go all the way, for what you know is right? Our Lord did, and it took him to Calvary. Martin Luther King, Jr. did, and it took him to the balcony of the Lorraine Hotel, in Memphis, Tennessee. Most of us will never be called upon to give our last measure of devotion... that is our lives; but, all of us will be called to step outside of our comfort zones, and step into our destiny, our purpose, our real reason for living... are we ready? 01:23:00BishopGeraldScottnoFaith,Sacrifice,Committment,Discipleship,DevotionWelcome to another Broadcast. For centuries, Christians have wrestled with What or Who the Holy Spirit is. Even His name has been debated... some refer to Him as the Holy Ghost, while others call Him the Holy Spirit. Some have reduced Him to being subordinate in importance to God as Father and God as Son. We pray to the Father, in the name of Son, but what role does the Holy Spirit play in the process?... if He even has a role at all. Is He (should I be even capitalizing my personal references to Him?) God's sidekick, like Tonto is to the Lone Ranger, or is He truly God, equal in every way to the Father and the Son? When did He first come on the scene? Did He manifest Himself in the Old Testament, or only on the Day of Pentecost, forward? What is His work, His role and His purpose, in history? Why does our Lord Yahshua warn us that to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit is the one, "unforgiveable sin"? We will also, in this study, be delving into the myths pertaining to the Holy Spirit, and discover the truth of the matter. We have discussed both the historical and religious roots of discrimination, segregation and mistreatment towards many within the disabled community. Ableism is the systematic belief that people who are disabled are outside of the "norm"; different, a mistake, bad.. and even sinful, worthy of punishment and isolation. The ableist world view is for those with disabilities to change or be excluded from the general population.  What are your experiences? Are you disabled, or have you ever had a condition, even temporarily, that limited you in doing things the way that you were used to doing them? Well in either case, as we anticipate the coming year, in just a few days, I would like you to share with us, on the broadcast, what challenges you, or someone that you love, have had to face; and what must we do as a collective society to make things better for all of those who are disenfranchised within our nation and our world? What must we do in our churches, our governments and, most of all, within ourselves, to turn things around, so that 2014 will be a year of fulfillment, achievement, and realized dreams... a year of Jubilee for All. 01:30:00BishopGeraldScottnoABLEISM,JUSTICE,EQUALITY,LOVE,FAMILYFor months we have looked at the relationship between people with disabilities and the predominately "able-bodied" society that they live in. When have proven the need for the continued work of the Five-fold Ministry of the Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher. In Ephesians 4:11-14 we are told of the purpose and duration of the five-fold ministries work:          And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive... This week we will begin to turn our attention to the administrative ministerial offices... The Bishop, the Elder, and the Deacon. As I looked at this, I discovered that the number of the ministers that are required to strengthen, enlighten and edify the Church and its Kingdom building work is the number Eight. Eight in the spirit realm always denotes a new beginning. These eight ministerial offices are there to rightly divide the Word of God, establish a standard by which God's Word will not be compromised, altered or changed; and to plant the spirit of love and cooperation among all believers, welcoming everyone.   02:00:00BishopGeraldScottnocooperation,ministry,kingdom,maturing,unity in YahshuaOver the past few weeks we have been dealing with not what He says, nor what She says, but, What rather what dones God say, in the context of ministerial orderABLEISM: A Morally Incorrect Attitude Within A Politically Correct Societyhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2013/12/23/ableism-a-morally-incorrect-attitude-within-a-politically-correct-societySpiritualityhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2013/12/23/ableism-a-morally-incorrect-attitude-within-a-politically-correct-society/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/bishopgeraldscott/2013/12/23/ableism-a-morally-incorrect-attitude-within-a-politically-correct-societyMon, 23 Dec 2013 23:00:00 GMTABLEISM: A Morally Incorrect Attitude Within A Politically Correct SocietyWe have, over the many weeks of this series, tried to bring both those with disabilitities and those who, at the moment, are not, a sense of the daily struggles, biases and discriminations and generally  negative attitudes that many within society have towards people with disabilities... whether physical, developmental, learning or mental. This mistreatment and practice of excluding those with special challenges is called, Ableism. This alienation between people with disabilities and those who society consider "able-bodied" has been perpetrated and even instigated from the earliest time in human history and continues even in this politically correct 21st century.  Throughout history.. we have been painted with one sweeping stroke; ie, we are all cripples, gimps, intellectually slow, hard of hearing, and, whose opinions, generally hold little weight of importance... in fact, do any of us even have opinions, feelings, preferences, desires, likes and dislikes. Pssst... are we even human, in the strickest sense of the word? Well, last week we went to great length to reveal the divine and scientific connection that every human being has with one another. Like it or not,  WE ARE FAMILY, Y'ALL!! So, why, if we are all just one big family... with many racial groups, ethnic heritages, religious preferences, gender distinctions...some of us are young, while others are old; some of us are rich, which others are poor; and some of us are disabled , while others are able-bodied. If we all did come from the same gene pool then why does Ableism continue to raise it's ugly head, again and again. He wanted everyone, not just certain ones, to hear the Gospel and decide to repent and be born again.. living eternally with our Blessed Savior in Heaven. The Church has gone throughout the world with this message; but in most instances, it has failed to bring this message of love, hope and deliverance to those who need to hear it the most, i.e, people with disabilities; the physcially, developmentally and mentally challenged among us. In the past, and even, regretfully, today, the disabled have be excluded, ostracized, ignored and even mistreated by those who profess to be living a Christ-like life. Christ embraced and cared for everyone, with special concern for those that society had "kicked to the curb". As we anticipate a new and exciting year, let us, as the Body of Christ, take a new and exciting approach in including and earnestly accepting people with disabilities, whether severe, moderate or"mild", whether obvious or hidden, chronic or temporary. Our attitudes and priorities must change.. and we must be prepared to deal with whatever disability a person may have, whether mobile, visual, audio (hearing challenges), developmental (down sydrome, cerebral palsy, autism, etc), stature (whether a large person or a little person) terminal (aids, malignant diseases, etc.), mental (neurological, such as epilepsy; and certain mental health disorders, such as paranoia, schizophrenia, and being bi-polar ). ALL MUST BE WELCOMED. In other words, is the "apostle" doing what an apostle is called by God to do, or, is that "apostle", in truth, exclusively serving as a pastor. Can a pastor serve as a pastor? Many of the abolitionist groups and movements who fought against the curse of slavery in America and around the world were lead by men and women of faith. William Wilberforce of England; Richard Allen, The first bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, here in Philadelphia, PA; John Brown, a devout bible-quoting martyr of the abolitionist cause; Henry Garnett, a black mininster in the Presbyterian Church; Prudence Crandall, a young Quaker schoolteacher... to name but a precious few. Many of the first orphanages were established by the Catholic Church in the 18th century, with many Protestant Churches adding to these numbers during the 19th and 20th centuries. And, who can forget the impact that the church and it's clergy had in the Civil Rights movement; names like, Rosa Parks, a missionary in her local church, Rev. Dr. Ralph Abernathy, Rev. Fred Shuttleworth, the Rev. Jesse Jackson; and, then there was the poster child for the modern day civil rights movement... the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Other men also protested the old Jim Crow Laws of segregation and inequality men like,Rabbi Herschel, a Jewish cleric and Father John Cavanaugh, a Catholic priest. The church has a very distinquished record when it comes to the things that it has historically stood for, but, in many other instances, in relationship with those 57 million people that are physically, developmentally and mentally disabled, it has not been as stellar; in fact, in many cases, it has perpetuated the narrow-minded stereotypes that society has accepted about people with disabilities. In the beginning there were no diseases, limitations, nor death.. now we are faced with all three on a daily basis. This challenge of life is especially true for those who are physically, developmentally and mentally disabled. Yet, in spite of the obstacles and barriers that each must face, many have courageously overcome the odds, and faced their challenges. Tonight, we will be discussing both their challenges and their triumphs; and, learn that the spirit of man, when guided by the Spirit of God, can attain and achieve anything... even those things that may seem impossible. 01:33:00BishopGeraldScottnoFrom the Fall of Man, in the Garden of Eden until this very moment, man has had to confront his mortality. When we get in trouble or we don't know what do about any given situation, the first thing we do is get on the phone, or go to our neighbor's or friends house for counsel and advice. Even when we have received good news, we can hardly wait to tell somebody. Yet, no matter who we tell, no one has all the answers, and, in many cases, the person that we tell, have unresolved issues of their own. Many times we choose people that will give us the answers that we want to hear, rather than seeking someone who will give us answers that we need to hear. Answers that will force us to look inside ourselves, and sift out the mess that lies within. What we need to do is to seek what God has to say about the situation, whether good or bad. His counsel is sure, all the time. This broadcast was created for each of us to discover the truth about ourselves, through the Word of God, the Bible, so that we can become all that He purposed us to be.00:28:00BishopGeraldScottnoTruth,Insight,Discovery,Purpose,DestinyMany times we seek out and listen to the opinions of others. Hi! My name is Bishop Gerald Wm. Scott, and I am privleged to be the host of a new and exciting blogtalkradio program entitled, Miracle in the Morning. Miracle in the Morning is a showthat will attempt to encourage its listeners to wake up every morning understanding and appreciating the miracle contained within life itself. Miracles are often understood in terms of supernatural intervention in relationship to healing and delivering one from disease and distress; but I look at miracles as accomplishing things in life that no one believes you can accomplish, and overcoming situations that conventional wisdom says is impossible to overcome; having the disposition of a victor, rather than a victim (making lemonade from the lemons that you have been given) to the circumstances of life are all miracles as well. Stories of triumph over tragedy.. guests that will share their inspirational experiences.. and callers who will, through their own personal accounts, encourage others to fight on and never give up, will all make up the format of this broadcast. Listen, Share, Learn and Discover just what a Mircale life can be. 00:31:00BishopGeraldScottnofaith,hope,miracles,triumph,victoryROHAD (Refuge of Hope & Deliverance Min, Inc) in conjunction with blogtalkradio, proudly presents, Miracles in the Morning.
