Encountering obstacles throughout life can make it difficult, in many ways, to forge ahead. In the competitive spirit of an athlete, we see a desire and drive to pierce through obstacles in order reach peak performance. Athletes can sometimes bury or hide emotional or physical trauma to fuel their drive. However, at some point, what has been buried, must come to the surface.

In her book, Silken Laumann describes the terror she felt while growing up, along with the verbal and physical abuse she experienced at the hands of her troubled mother. She battles her own feelings of unworthiness in her story.

Author and Olympic medalist, Silken Laumann joins us LIVE at BEYONDtheCheers on blogtalkradio on Wednesday, May 7th at 7PM EST. Learn how she overcame her own personal, physical and emotional trauma, ask her questions and join in the conversation. You can also listen each Friday at NOON to our repeat broadcast on AMFM247.
