The importance of sex in human relationships, especially with our spouse, is well known to us as a vital element in developing and maintaining a healthy marriage and relationship. Thus, the betrayal from a loved one, related sexual affairs, brings traumatic experiences for many. It would not surprise to say that the relationship between sexual compatibility and marital satisfaction is a universal experience for many couples.

However, the impacts of culture in navigating sex in a relationship bring unique challenges in Asian-interracial relationship. US society has a long history of stereotypes toward Asian women. A mail-order bride is one of the good examples. The description of "exotic" and "submissive" Asian women intensifies non-Asian men's unrealistic expectations toward Asian women. The adult/sex industry's spreading influence that commercializes Asian women's sexuality adds to the modern era's complexity.

On the contrary, in Eastern cultures, women's sexuality, especially the value of virginity, has been highly valued, not only to an individual but also to the family legacy. Therefore, Western culture's rapid influence that promoting autonomy and individual happiness brings unique challenges to many young Asian women when married after having a sexual relationship with others before their marriage. The terms of Narita Divorce in Japan and Honeymoon Divorce in Korea are good. Thus, Asian women married outside of their ethnic group in the US face multiple challenges to navigate without many resources.

Tonight, Carol the Coach will be interviewing Chun-Shin Taylor, an expert in partner betrayal, who wants to educate us on the nuances and the complexities of working with Asian-Interacial coupleships.
