During the opening act's performance, Harrington told friends that she was going to the restroom. When she did not return, they called her cell phone at 8:48pm and she told them that she was locked out of the arena because of its "no re-entry" policy. She added that she would find a way home and they should not worry. According to witness reports, she was last seen at around 9:30pm hitch-hiking on a nearby bridge. There are also two witnesses who claim to have seen her with three men after she had left the arena. The following day, her purse with her identification and cell phone (with batteries removed) was discovered in one of the arena's overflow parking areas, the RV lot at UVA's Lannigan Athletic Field. Her remains were discovered on January 26, 2010, about ten miles (16 km) from the arena in a remote area of a 742-acre (3.00 km) farm and at least one and a half miles from road access. Can forensics aid ghost hunters, and might ghost hunters who  use these tools one day assist in the cause of justice? Examining documented tales of ghosts and murder, police psychics,  and researching scientific experiments from the past, as well as conducting a few of their own, Katherine Ramsland, a forensics expert, and Mark Nesbitt, a paranormal investigator, explore the  answers to these questions within the pages of "Blood & Ghosts". Forensics is an applied science and many of its sub-disciplines have a kinship with ghost  hunting: its tools and technology were devised to record and analyze evidence or behavior.  Given this shared approach to solving mysteries, it makes sense to see how these disciplines  could be brought together. Licensed to practice law in 2001. Practicing Law for both the public and private sectors for 10 years before being named Jefferson County Prosecutor. A fast track career that includes being named partner of a well known local law firm (Bruzzese and Calabria), head of Stuebenville School Board, Assisant Procescutor with an apparent 100% prosecution rate. Now stepping in to the shoes of outgoing Thomas Straus after a very short notice and almost sudden retirement, she has become a polarizing figure in these gang rape cases and the community itself. Some say she was a hero to work the case for the time she did before recusing herself due to close relationships with many people suspected and assure that all the evidence needed was collected for the replacement prosecutors while others say the 2 weeks she stayed on the case was long enough for her to compromise the case enough to determine its fate to benefit her personal interests before having no choice but to turn it over to her replacements. She is the first we examine in our efforts to understand Steubenville's key players, the county's social and political structure and why there may be such profound admiration from some yet profound apprehension from others. Jane has been invited to join in this critical and objective analysis and a chance to clear the record before an election that will cement her new found position that some say is a part of her fast track to a seat on the county's judges bench. Hickey will explain, such a myopic view is what continues to limit our understanding of serial killers, their methods and their motivations.   What about women, adolescents, non white killers? In this show we will discuss serial killers who challenge both the typical stereotypes and our understanding of why some chose to kill.   Katherine will also be ofering her insight in this phenomena. Dr. Katherine Ramsland teaches forensic psychology and criminal justice at DeSales University and is the author of 40 books. Among them is The Mind of a Murderer and The Human Predator, a history of serial murder.
