In the doom and gloom that prevaded throughout the U.S. Navy in the immediate aftermath of the dastardly sneak attack upon U.S. naval and air installations at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii by the Empire of Japan, the U.S. Navy had precious few fighting ships left to satnd against the relentless enemy onslaught. The Aircraft Carrier USS YORKTOWN was one of those ships. Big, beautiful, and strong, she fought the Japanese tooth and nail and contested every inch of the Pacific while inflicting grievous losses upon their empire; culminating in their cataclysmic defeat at the Battle of Midway. Her fighting heroics made her a legend, and forever secured her legacy in the annals of maritime history. This and future broadcasts will detail her amazing life and incredible fighting career.
