The shame and embarrassment about any form of disability can be found in most ethnic groups. However, there is a higher prevalence of stigmas over mental disability in African-American and Latino groups. Host, Dr. Danita Applewhite and Special Guest Dr. E. Douglass Brown, share a unique insight about the stigma of mental illness and how it relates to depression and addiction. Hear students, teachers, and Veterans discuss how to identify symptoms, overcome shame, and get confidential help. Dr. E. Douglas Brown is a clinical psychologist and author.

The White Apple Institute Talk Show, is produced by the students and veterans of White Apple Institute (a nonprofit 501 c 3). We are dedicated to restoring hope and preventing underserved adult students with emotional challenges and disabilities from dropout/burnout from school, work, and LIFE! Let's encourage even those who have been out of the classroom for some time to  "Take a bite of White Apple Wisdom and change the perception of 'disabled to differently-abled' to achieve their goals in higher education and succeed in the workforce!  Learn more about how to volunteer and sponsor a student veteran in the "Place your B.E.T.S. on our VETS" crisis intervention program.
