Please join our resident comedian and radio host, Anjan Biswas, in welcoming Emmy & Grammy nominated comedian and actress, Margaret Cho to AB Radio! She is set to return to Boston on November 6, to The Wilbur Theatre, to perform her new stand-up comedy world tour show called MOTHER. MOTHER is a complicated and completely original take on sex, politics, drugs, guns, identity and madness, proving time and time again, boundaries uncrossed are meaningless. Nothing is sacred, least of all, this MOTHER. The cornerstone of MOTHER revolves around Cho’s long-suffering Korean mom and a staple of her shows, Young-Hie Cho. “It’s great because I get to put a lot of emphasis on my own mother,” Cho explains. “My mother did not prepare me for the world. First - I was named the poetic Korean name "moran" which was perfect for the kids at school to call me "moron" and set me up for a good quarter century of therapy. However, I can clean a fish with my bare hands. So there are pros and cons of being from an Asian immigrant family.” More info here: http://kenphillipsgroup.com/Phillips/cho.htm http://www.margaretcho.com/  Many thanks to... John Clifford, is an American taking a two year Diploma in Peforming Arts (Cantonese Opera) at the Academy.  Clifford was a year short of graduating Boston College with a degree in Asian Studies when he decided to come to the Academy to pursue his dream of becoming a Cantonese opera accompanist. At age 12, Clifford developed a great interest in the erhu, a Chinese string instrument. He learned Chinese music by first learning the Chinese language and is now conversant in Putonghua (Mardarin), Cantonese and Toisanese.  During the last ten years, he has continued to learn both online and by spending time at Cantonese opera studios in Boston’s Chinatown.  Today, he plays more than eight musical instruments. Clifford hopes that one day he will be a concertmaster, teacher and eventually a publisher of books on Cantonese opera music, thus helping preserve this ancient tradition.
