This proved to be the start of a six month ‘roller coaster ride’ which took him from the mental and emotional turmoil that followed the break-up through to a spiritual awakening.  In the process he discovered the joy that came from engaging with his true life purpose: to write music. Then you are in the front lines. You are part of the next frontier. Humans have always been creative. Each one of us is the result of the creative act of conception. Then one cell becomes two, those cells create new cells, and on and on. We are always growing, expanding, sometimes more consciously than at other times. And when we get stuck, we are still creative about it. Some of the most creative minds belong to the mentally ill who create all manner of paranoid delusions. But we would like to focus on the healthy creatives here. Those who take their experience and wisdom of the world and create stories or pictures about it. This is something every single one of us has the capacity for, whether or not we choose to exercise it, because we know that as children we drew and told stories and felt the world as very alive and ourselves very alive in it. From where I sit, the awareness of our inherent creativity is as vital to the spirit as food and water is to the body. Because the awareness that we create our realty is the next frontier. The new frontier. When we can actually know without a doubt that we are responsible for everything that happens to us, all the bad guys disappear. There is no one to blame anymore. There are simply other beings in our reality doing what they do, just as we do what we do. We don’t have to be part of their reality unless we choose to. The stories I will be reading today are from a collection of American memoirs. What they have in common is the palpable excitement of each of the writers for the life, the experiences, they are telling us about. We might not all be able to feel this kind of heightened awareness and excitement every day, and most likely the writers themselves don’t either. The artists of any society are the individuals with the long antennae; the keen sensing apparatus. By revealing to us their hearts and souls they give back to us a sense of our own humanity. Artists call attention to things. Whether showing you something you might have missed without him or reconfirming what you already knew, communication between artist and viewer brings two minds—and hopefully hearts, together. It brings through a vision, a viewpoint, a quality of seeing and being so we can all see and share in it. Everything a person makes, whether it is a meal, a flower arrangement, a home-run, or a work of art, reveals their consciousness. It is my hope that the artists’ work will be more meaningful to the viewer by having understood more how they feel and where they are coming from. Our eyes have become so full of constant imagery that almost out of necessity we have blocked off much of what we see, with the unfortunate consequence that we are losing the ability to understand what things mean. The other pitfall of course is that emotionally we might feel we can’t afford to enter into the pain of pure feeling…the kind of sense awareness that causes an artist to make a picture of a sculpture. Story-Me is the short form of “make-it-into-a-story.” It means taking an episode from your life, something memorable because of the emotions attached to it, and creating a story around it, a narrative that doesn’t part with the facts of the situation, but one in which you observe as a witness instead of as the main character, or the one being done to. When you Story-Me, you take your experience to a different level. We are talking about an experience with painful memories, healing them by changing our perception. How different things appear once we change the lens in the viewfinder! Story-Me uses intuition, psychic abilities, creative abilities. Everything is used; nothing is made up. We use the experiences of our lives to create a new story. Meanwhile, in the process of creating story, we are removed from the center of the action. We are outside, looking in. We begin to see ourselves as a “character” in our own lives. When you are able to create your life as a story, you are beginning to see your life as an art-form. Perhaps one of the most important aspects of Story-Me, the way it alters our perception, is the way we are able to change our view of the past. The past is not unalterable, written in stone. The past is a moveable beast, shifting with the currents of our present. The facts may stay the same, but the story is all in the telling. As we move into the accelerated evolutionary pathway, the telling of our stories has never been more popular. This flowering of story-telling is certainly no accident. The more we can story our past experiences, the more we will be able to create the story of our future. It will be a story of the soul, and soul lessons. What many artists don't know is that they are the blockage. Any time an artist sits down to force out a creative work, and it doesn't come out, it is because they are trying to force it. The creative right side of the brain cannot operate correctly, because the logical left side is busy trying to recreate the feeling of inspiration. The left side deals primarily with recreation and memory, not with imagination and creation, and so it is virtually impossible to "force" anything artistic, because the right side, the creative side, does not work under force, or any sort of pressure. This is done through the visual cortex on one level, but the whole brain is involved because it is a hologram.” “Our eyes only transform light into electrical signals that are constantly delivered to the brain for interpretation. He has been a street musician and a merchant marine, playing in New Orleans, Austin, Boulder, Berkeley, Eugene, Seattle, Rainbow Gatherings, Nashville, Ashville, Philadelphia, New York, London, Dublin, Cork, Paris, Lyons, Barcelona, Madrid; Merchant marine (able bodied seaman) - Gulf of Mexico, Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Caribbean, Atlantic.
