The Clean Oceans Project (TCOP) is a 501c3 marine environmental non-profit organization in Santa Cruz, California with a vision of an ocean free of plastic pollution. Our scientific response to plastic accumulation in the oceans locates plastic debris concentrations, removes it from the environment with minimal impact and processes it into fuel to run the operation. TCOP programs begin with education and training to create efficient and effective teams for future expeditions to document and remove plastic from remote environments. Jim “Captain Homer” Holm has over 30 years in the maritime trades on various configurations of sail and motor craft including private luxury yachts, sport fishing vessels, grand prix racing sailboats, marine research vessels, square-rigged training ships and fast rescue boats.  He has crossed the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas, transited the Panama Canal and voyaged between California, Hawaii and Pacific islands including French Polynesia, Fiji, Vanuatu, Australia, New Zealand and the Marshall Islands. His management experience includes developing and operating acclaimed marine environmental educational programs for clients including O’Neill International and Monterey Bay Aquarium as well as building and managing rental housing in California and Arkansas and conducting successful fundraisers for Autism in Santa Cruz, Ca. As Director of “The Clean Oceans Project” Homer assembled the technology and techniques to locate and harvest plastic debris from the marine environment and recycle it into fuel to power the operation. The Keystone XL pipeline is set to bring toxic tar sands from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf Coast, where it will be refined for export. As young people we’ve had enough: approval of the pipeline would ensure that our generation takes on the risk of oil spills, increased toxic pollution from refineries, health disasters, and a exacerbated  climate change. Join us in Washington DC March 1-2 to tell President Obama to reject the pipeline to protect us from a future defined by climate chaos. 01:00:00AquamannoKeystone XL,XLDissent,Environment,Fossil Fuels,CO2More details to come! People are willing to sacrifice much more in support of their tribe. Further to this, their tribe is one of many sub-tribes making up the conservation movement in general. So all the conservation groups, including Earthrace, are all sub-tribes with converging values and ideals, and together we make up a very considerable tribe that is a growing and mobile force around the globe." Earthrace Conservation is a powerful fusion of direct action, knowledge and expertise, education, and most importantly, passion, which we strongly believe will grow into one of the most effective marine conservation groups in the world. The oceans cover over 70% of the earth’s surface – they are vast. The scale of the problems and issues being faced by marine mammals and the habitats they live in is equally immense. His love for these animals began when he was very young, he was one of the "Free Willy" kids and thinks that his love for Keiko's story is what inspired him to become what he is today. He is almost done with his degree in general biology, which is being delayed a bit because of all the work he has done with Promar Equinac, and other initiatives such as the WCA (World Cetacean Alliance) and Morgan, as well as a project for a preschool in South Africa. He has been to dolphinariums in Spain before he really understood the issues with captivity, but his best memories are from the few times his parents took him to see wild dolphins, in the strait of Gibraltar. He goes there regularly now, as it is one of the world's hotspots for cetaceans. His first real experiences were in South Africa as a volunteer and being a research assistant and a guide on whale watching tours. A few weeks after that he was walking on the beach in Almerimar, and saw this group of people camped on the beach with a baby dolphin in a sea pen, and that's when he began working with Promar and with Marcos the dolphin. At the moment he is a member of the technical team in the original NGO, Promar Equinac, where they are working hard on various projects, above all looking for resources so that they are prepared for any stranded animal that they may have to attend to. They also help other animals like dogs and horses, so they have decided to include that in the NGO's work as well In 2014 he will attend Whalefest and a few conferences. He hopes Promar Equinac will also grow as a team and an NGO.   01:01:00AquamannoDolphins,Whales,Cetaceans,Marine Mammals,OceansAlexander Sánchez, Secretary at PROMAR-Equinac Alexander Sanchez, is British but was born and raised in southern Spain. Our opposition is not against ‘green alternative energy’, but we do oppose the current site chosen. This OpenHydro Pilot Tidal Turbine Project could have detrimental impacts on our treasured Endangered Southern Resident Killer Whale (SRKW) population, as well as affecting transient orcas and 12 other Federally Protected ESA species, including Chinook Salmon, Chum Salmon, North Pacific Humpback Whales, and the Eastern Stellar Sea Lion. The Endangered Southern Resident Community of Killer Whales (SRKWs) is now at the lowest population number in more than a decade. The three family groups, J, K and L Pod, currently stand at 80 members, (Center for Whale Research, 7/2013). Adding insult to injury, there have been no calves born this year despite recovery plans in place in Canada and the U.S. What clearly needs to be understood is that tidal energy production is still very much in its infancy. That the amount of power produced so far has been small. Currently, only two commercial-sized tidal power plants operate in the world. She holds degrees in Biology and Nursing. She has been most active the past 18 years since moving to Atlanta. Recently she has been focused on marine mammals and their welfare. She is deeply concerned about our oceans and the life in them. She believes captivity is wrong and tries to educate when ever possible. A campaign she has been watching and deeply involved with as of recent is the GA Aquarium trying secure permits to import 18 beluga whales from the cruel Russia round up. NOAA has yet to announce if they will approve this and issue a permit or not. And hoping for the later. 00:30:00AquamannoBeluga,Whales,Captivity,Cetaceans,NOAAKay has been in involved with animal welfare in one form or the other since her childhood.
