1st hr.---'Left Turn w/ Stewart Alexander'
2nd hr.--'The Dialogue'
On 'Left Turn with Stewart Alexander', Howie Hawkins, www.howiehawkins.org, Green Party politician and social activist, is the guest.
Under discussion: 'Red or Green, A Voice for the Working Class'.
During this hour, Howie Hawkins will speak about his recent run for Governor of New York and his career as a leader on working class issues.
On 'The Dialogue', Karen Christine Patrick and Ruthann RA Amarteifio discuss the B.I.G. idea from a historical perspective. Reminded recently of the visionary legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., we learn that King advocated some kind of Income Guarantee. His advocacy for this solution to poverty is in the last book he wrote before his death, 'Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community? '(New York: Harper & Row, 1967)
An article about King's final wise words about an income guarantee are found at http://www.progress.org/banneker/kingsay.html where he states, "The problem indicates that our emphasis must be two-fold. We must create full employment or we must create incomes. People must be made consumers by one method or the other. Once they are placed in this position, we need to be concerned that the potential of the individual is not wasted. New forms of work that enhance the social good will have to be devised for those for whom traditional jobs are not available."
