On a cutting-edge edition of After Hours AM/The Criminal Code — True Crime every with hosts Joel Sturgis, Eric Olsen, and secret weapon, forensic psychologist Dr. Clarissa Cole — we dig into the fascinating phenomenon of virtual detecting with Hunt A Killer’s C.W.S., who is an expert on serial killers and the public’s fascination with them. C.W.S. will join us at Clarissa will lead us through the week’s freakiest True Crime news. C.W.S. C.W.S., is a true crime blogger for the murder mystery subscription service, Hunt A Killer; and host of their podcast, Behind True Crime, where she interviews professionals working in the genre. When she was a kid, she would spend every Friday night studying America’s Most Wanted, dreaming of becoming an FBI detective. She is frighteningly knowledgeable about a wide range of cases, and has her finger on the pulse of the overall phenomenon of the public’s interest in serial killers. What possessed her and those at Hunt A Killer to think that people would want a box with threatening/terrifying content sent to their home each month? What kind of people sign up? Why? This gets to the heart of two things: the mystique of serial killers, and the psychology behind a populace that’s fascinated with them. Besides the True Crime madness, C.W.S. also writes country music and rambles around the United States building campfires and hoping for the best. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia’s MFA program in poetry and has written and self-published two chapbooks, a travel memoir, two folk/country albums, and was recently nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Her work has been published in Transom, Matter, Wu-Wei Fashion Mag, the James Franco Review, Miracle Monocle, and Ghost Town. She lives in Seattle.
