Why a call to action? Within Lee Jay's approach and focus for his session, he will break down the assumptions about impasse regardless of the nature of the dispute or the high conflict of the parties in: commercial; corporate; workplace; local, domestic or international disputes; schools; family; and amongst any other dispute contexts. His call to action is a means whereby new and experienced mediators can learn from Lee Jay and each other different ways of approaching, managing and resolving conflict with early conflict assessment, detailed information gathering, conflict re-frames and other ways to create resolution opportunities and overcome high disputant conflict that makes impasse the fallacy it is. His session will bring a sharpening of tools already in a mediator's toolbox, the creation of other tools to add to that tool-box so that mediator effectiveness and efficiency is enhanced. This is an interactive session where all can help and learn from each other so all can do their best work possible with the best tools while ensuring high conflict disputants are treated with respect, dignity and regard in reducing the conflict and ensuring impasse remains only a fallacy. Sympathy is felt for the 'other'. The journey that I have been on is from a somewhat sociopathic approach to my fellow beings in which I came to recognize that empathy was about the most powerful tool in the human spectrum.  Mechanical empathy is a way to apply empathy in a situation in which you may not feel it. Gradually the practice of mechanical empathy shifts the practitioner into a truly empathic person. The brain plasticity responds to practice, practice, practice by shifting the 'going through the motions' into a true and easy feeling of genuine oneness with all life forms.   00:04:00ACR Blog Talk RadionoJourney to Empathy     Empathy in Mediation with Martin Golder interview by Mary Damianakis Empathy is a way of relating to others around youTruth and Reconciliation: For Athletes and Beyondhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/acrprofessional/2013/09/19/truth-and-reconciliation-for-athletes-and-beyondWorkhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/acrprofessional/2013/09/19/truth-and-reconciliation-for-athletes-and-beyond/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/acrprofessional/2013/09/19/truth-and-reconciliation-for-athletes-and-beyondThu, 19 Sep 2013 19:00:00 GMTTruth and Reconciliation: For Athletes and Beyond Most of us are familiar with the use of a truth and reconciliation commission in the context of South Africa and restorative justice.  However, truth and reconciliation commissions have also been used to address conflicts in South Korea, Canada, the Philippines, England and the United States.  A truth and reconciliation commission can empower crime victims, stimulate a healing process, and help rebuild a community or a nation in ways a traditional court proceeding cannot.  What are the considerations in the use of a truth and reconciliation commission - what makes it effective, and what have been the lessons learned?   Larry Schooler will discuss his article, "Cycling Toward Health: Truth and Reconciliation for Athletes and Beyond," published in the Fall 2012 issue of ACResolution Magazine.  He will also discuss processes used in public policy dispute resolution - a topic he will be presenting on at the 2013 ACR Conference -- and whether those processes could be effectively used by truth and reconciliation commissions. 00:16:00ACR Blog Talk RadionoLarryy Schooler, turth and reconciliation,ACR Conference, public policy dispute resolution,ACResolution MagazineMost of us are familiar with the use of a truth and reconciliation commission in the context of South Africa and restorative justice.  However, truth and reconPutting Humpty Together Againhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/acrprofessional/2013/09/11/conference-persenterWorkhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/acrprofessional/2013/09/11/conference-persenter/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/acrprofessional/2013/09/11/conference-persenterWed, 11 Sep 2013 20:30:00 GMTPutting Humpty Together Again Kay is a conflict coach in private practice in Orlando, Florida, where she helps her clients make lasting positive changes in their conflict interactions. This is especially problematic as the expectations for being accessible are higher than ever in a generation of parents that is increasingly filled with "digital natives". This means it is more important than ever for family conflict resolution professionals to learn to use technology to their advantage and teach CR skills in a digital environment.   Enter the role of parenting coordinators.
