After performing on the road as a member of a ten piece horn band back in the 1970’s traveling through out the United States and Canada, Briggs moved back home to Kentucky and got married and started a family in 1992. Briggs limited his playing to being a musician in church until 2001 when he once again started performing in public entertainment venues. Upshaw Briggs founded and incorporated Max Grooves, LLC in September of 2001 primarily to be a special events performing group. (weddings, reunions, celebrations, etc.)
In 2003, Upshaw Briggs joined The Trendells of Lexington as one of the four lead vocalist with the group and ended my association with them after two years. It was not long after that Briggs took a position as saxophone sideman with Jerry Green and Friends where he performed on weekends for about 10 years. In 2015, Briggs made the decision to pursue once again his songwriting and versatile musical skills by joining forces with Darrell Newcomb, guitarist and music teacher in the Elizabethtown area. 'Max Grooves' now perform regularly in the region as a what I would call a jazzy, soulful blues pop duo. This has enabled me to once again for Upshaw Briggs hone to keyboard and songwriting skills and brought new found energy to his vocal and saxophone performance. Upshaw Briggs also perform as a duo with keyboard/vocalist/songwriter Keith Hubbard of Lexington. Feel free to call the guest line at 1 657 383 0771- I am your host Brenda Moss
Through a rich association with area musicians and vocalist Max Grooves, LLC is also able to perform as a six piece ensemble as well.
