Singer/Songwriter KEA (Kea Michaels) is swiftly proving herself as an outstanding and soul-piercing new artist with her June 21-slated second single, ?Not My Friend,? the follow-up to her poignant debut ?I Love You? which peaked at #1 on four U.K. Soul charts, was picked up by the BBC, received support from several U.S. Smooth Jazz outlets and was chosen as ‘Song of the Month' by influential music site SoulTracks. ?Not My Friend,? Paints Strong Portrait of a Woman Choosing Herself Over an Unworthy Man ?Not My Friend,? also the second single from her forthcoming EP Relationships, is a smooth, engaging groove wit ha pretty melody about a woman making the decision to disconnect from a relationship that is not healthy for her. Interestingly, the song is NOT about hardcore clichés such as sexual infidelity or physical abuse. This song addresses a man who was verbally and emotionally abusive, controlling, non-communicative and self-centered…over a long period of time. Targeted to women that stay in relationships longer than they know they should, it depicts a woman who once felt she had no voice now making the affirmative move to leave this man and that toxic ‘so-called relationship' in the rear window. To define Kea Michaels, one has to be prepared to experience an emotionally charged performance of being wrapped in her smoky and soulful storytelling vocals. Her words and sound propose an acoustical cry that echoes the raw and brazen situations of urban life. She expresses the emotions of life by delivering lyrics that mirrors the highs and lows of life. Kea's mission is to change the lives of everyone who hears her smooth and classic voice by conveying a sense of hope in disturbing times.
