FORGIVENESS: DO WE NEED IT?

You hurt my feelings, you feel bad, I forgive you and all’s right with the world again.  At least that’s how we are led to believe it all works.  Not only does the forgiveness free me from the burden of feeling bad, it frees you from the guilt.  Really? Well, maybe.

What does forgiveness really accomplish?  Do we need it?  How do we forgive? And are there different kinds of forgiveness?

Everett Worthington, Ph.D., is Commonwealth Professor in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University, joins us to talk the power and the problems with forgiveness. He is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Virginia and has published more than 35 books and 400 articles and scholarly chapters, mostly on forgiveness, positive psychology, marriage, family, religion, and spirituality.

Join us as we discuss forgiveness.
