    Dr Caleb Fundanga was appointed Governor of the Bank of Zambia in March of 2002, after having served as Senior Advisor to the President of the African Development Bank in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire from 1998. Dr. Fundanga further served as an Executive Director at the African Development Bank, before being appointed as Senior Advisor. Prior to serving at the African Development Bank, Dr. Fundanga had served in senior positions in Government. He began his career with Government at Permanent Secretary level in the Ministry of Finance, served for six years at Cabinet Office before finally winding up in the Office of the President as Permanent Secretary in charge of the National Commission for Development Planning.

    Over the last 18 years Zambia has been plagued by the worst corruption ever seen in the history of the country involving misappropriation of public funds. During the same period, a non-governmental organization, TI-Z, was formed in the year 2000, as a local chapter of Transparency International. Mr. Reuben Lifuka is the president of Transparency International-Zambia whose objective is to raise awareness on anti-corruption and the importance of a consolidated approach to addressing corruption at various levels.
