Call in to speak with the host
Mr. Ernest C. Mwansa is the spokesperson of The Technical Committee on Drafting the Zambian Constitution which was constituted on 16th November, 2011, by the President using his executive powers vested in him by the current Republican Constitution.. The Technical Committee has recognized that the constitution-making process is a very important national issue and should, therefore, involve the participation of all Zambians.
Mr Mwansa joins us to discuss wide ranging issues on the process or route of coming up with an acceptable or people-driven Constitution. He will update us on the process and progress, address the concerns of the role and influence of the Executive in the process, reasons the process has taken longer than initially projected, what role if any at the current stage can the Diaspora play, will the final draft be subjected to a national referendum? It is now over 20 years since Zambia started making attempts, at developing a democratic Constitution is this the last we are undergoing through this process?
