Diasporan Truth with Mukuka Mayuka

This weekend on "Diasporan Truth" we will be talking about African communities in the diaspora. Are they harmful or helpful? When we leave our home countries and arrive in our adopted homes, the first thing we miss is seeing and receiving support from our family and friends.  Depending on the size, functionality and location of the community, often there will be associations already set up to assist new comers to settle in smoothly and deal with accommodation, employment, education,health and childcare issues. However, not all communities are created equal. Stories of ineffectual assistance/support programs, mismanaged community funds, bickering, disorganised and infrequent meet ups trickle through the grapevine. We would love for you to participate in the show by sharing your experiences, commenting on the topic and asking any questions!

PERSPECTIVES

Mr Innocent Kabwe is the Managing Director of Falls FM Ltd a newly incorporated company set to venture in the electronic media industry by operating a radio broadcasting station in the tourist capital of Zambia, Livingstone. Mr Kabwe has vast experience in the media industry having worked at the national broadcaster Zambia National Broadcasting Corperation and other private stations in different capacities. He has also done media consultancy work for numerous organizations.

Mr Kabwe joins us to discuss the station’s primary objective of promoting tourism, talk shows, radio fan clubs among other interesting layouts. The station is currently running test transmission expected to end by End of July and full transmission is expected in August 2012 once the Ministry of Information grants it a certificate.
