Christopher Katongo led the Zambia national football team as captain and also emerged as player of the just ended 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. The newly crowned African champions also have four players making the 2012 CAF XI for the first time in 15 years. The CAF XI is always compiled at the end of each Africa Cup.
