Hon Nawakwi who holds a Masters degree in energy, economics and environment from the University of London Imperial College, was virtually unknown until the 1991 campaign for the Movement of Multiparty Democracy. After the elections, Hon Nawakwi was appointed deputy minister of energy and water development and later promoted to full cabinet level. In 1996, she was appointed as Minister of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries before she was made Finance minister. She is now the current president for Forum for Democracy and Development. expand
