Call in to speak with the host
Born and raised in Walthamstow, East London, of a Nigerian father and Jamaican mother, music was a big part of Jesuton's childhood as evidenced by the soaring cover of the Rolling Stones' 'Wild Horses' on her album. "I had one thing clear in my mind and that was to make music in Latin America, and for some reason it really didn't interest me to make music in London," she says. And so starts the remarkable journey of this remarkable young lady and 'exceptional performer'. In the space of just six months, Jesuton went from busking on the streets of Centro to being watched by 20 million people on one of Brazil's top-rated TV shows. "I've found the musical world here is just enormous (she says of Brazil), there are so many genres and sub-genres. In London, there's this production line of bands always coming out ... here there's this universe where everything gets cross-pollinated, there's always something different and nothing is static. That's really stimulating." Join us this evening - Jesuton is our special guest, and together we will follow her incredible story from the streets of East London to being watched by 20 million adoring fans. We're thrilled to welcome this incredible 'phenomenon' and powerhouse talent simply named - JESUTON!
It's good to talk.
