CJ...Did I mention the VA mortgages are available for mobile homes, but the lenders REFUSE to make the loan? We went through it all trying to get a VA loan for our $115,000 manufactured home...nope...no takers would touch us. What a shame. We had to put 5% down, double up on the monthly notes and get a fixed rate for 20 years. Lenders should be ashamed of themselves. Troops are returning home from the war and can't afford a $100 per square foot stick built home...so they opt for a double wide (or in our case a triple wide) manufactured home. They're not "trailers" any more. Janis

I'm not in the service...but that doesn't mean I don't care about the issues. I support the USA's efforts at home and abroad in making this world a safer place to live. I'll be listening and checking in on this new podcast venture. Good luck CJ...

For our 1-year anniversary show, we're privileged to have a great lineup to celebrate. Our first guest will be Maj Eric Egland. He is a former Republican candidate in 2008 congressional run. Eric Egland is a counter-terrorism consultant to the Department of Defense and is an active military reservist. His experience in national security includes working to defeat terrorism, insurgency and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in operational, analytical, and advisory roles. He was in Saudi Arabia on September 11th, 2001 and has since served in places like Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. His experiences in the Middle East are featured in a Fox News documentary on Iran. He is the founder of Troops Need You, a non-profit organization that continues the American tradition of mobilizing citizens to directly support the troops in Iraq, bypassing the bureaucracies in Washington and Baghdad. The project is part of a plan for victory in Iraq detailed in a book authored by Major Egland, titled The Troops Need You, America: Six Ways to Help Them Win.(www.troopsneedyou.com) We are also happy to be talking to Country music star Mark Wills. We will talk about his new album, "2nd Time Around" and his support of USA Cares. USA Cares exists to provide military families with financial support and other critical resources in their time of need. www.usacares.org We also have Mr. Gary Winkler. Gary is the author of the new book about Abu Ghraib and Lynndie England "TORTURED: Lynndie England, Abu Ghraib and the Photographs that Shocked the World" - LYNNDIE ENGLAND'S ONLY AUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY. In addition to revealing the young Army Reservist's thoughts and feelings about her role in the abuse, the author delves deeper into England's twisted relationship with Corporal Charles Graner, the questionable conduct of the war and the Bush-era torture policies that contributed to the culture of abuse that came to exist at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

Episode #5 - Wrong About The Right

On this week's show, we'll talk to S.E. Cupp, author of the book "Why You're Wrong About The Right". Ranging from concrete facts to laugh-out-loud commentary, Newt Gingrich, Al Leiter, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, Ted Nugent, Shelby Steele, Tony Stewart, Glenn Beck and even Bubba the Love Sponge—along with dozens more—provide the ammunition to shatter the most shocking claims about the Right. Plus, I'll talk about the craziness of military life and whatever comes to mind. I may even just let my hair down, what the high and tight left behind, and just talk for the sake of talking.

    Finale Salute - 18 Sep 08

My guest for today's show is Pulitzer Prize winner for Featured Writing, Jim Sheeler, author of "Final Salute: A Story of Unfinished Lives" which chronicles the lives of several CAOs, Casualty Assistance Officers, as they go about the somber business of notifying family members of their servicemembers' deaths and how they cope afterwards. The book has been hailed as both "required reading" and an "act of national service" to more profane things by the anti-war crowd as a "pro-war" book. In the d

    September 11th Memorial Show

Today's show will be a two-hour special from 1800-2000. My first guest will be 1SG Troy Steward, New York National Guard First Sergeant and Afghanistan Veteran. Troy is also a military blogger who documented his Afghanistan deployment on his site, Bouhammer (www.bouhammer.com). We will discuss the meaning of military service in a post 9/11 world and his thoughts as a New Yorker and Soldier. I'll also have David Bellavia, author of "House to House", former Staff Sergeant in the United States Army and nominee for the Medal of Honor (as well as a special guest at the State of the Union a few years ago). And I consider him a friend!! My third guest will be Retired Marine Corps Major General Fred Haynes. MG Haynes was a member of Combat Team 28, the unit that raised the flag on Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima. A Captain at the time, MG Haynes is the last surviving officer in CT28 intimately involved in planning and coordinating all phases of the Team’s fight on Iwo Jima. It's an interview you won't want to miss!!

    Episode #2 - A Soldier's Courage

A lot of great stuff going on this podcast. I will have an interview with Janis Galatas, author of "A Soldier's Courage" and spouse of wounded Iraq veteran Norris Galatas! Janis is the quintessential troop supporter who does so much for others while dealing with Norris's own fights through the military health care system. Oh, and she absolutely LOVES horses!! I had to reschedule with Retired Marine Major General Fred Haynes due to scheduling conflicts. He is at the Republican National Convention this week and instead of a recorded interview, I want to bring him on live. So he will participate in our Sep 11th show. This is also our first show at our regularly scheduled time of 1800 on Thursdays!! Thank you for helping us earn this slot.
