  Ross Katz, Director and Co-Writer of HBO's film, "Taking Chance" talks about the making of the movie. Listen to hear him explain how he came to be the director and co-writer, what he considered one of emotional moments while filming the movie, and how real Veterans joined the cast for the final scene of the movie. The movie stars Kevin Bacon as Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, a Marine who volunteers to escort the body of LCPL Chance Phleps back to his hometown for burial.

  Brats: Our Journey Home - The First Documentary about Growing up Military

  Independent filmmaker Donna Musil is our guest and she will be discussing her film: Brats: Our Journey Home. U.S. military BRATS share intimate memories about their unique childhoods - growing up on military bases around the world, then struggling to fit into an American lifestyle with which they have little in common. The film is narrated and featuring songs by Kris Kristofferson. Interviews include General Norman Schwarzkopf. The film culminates a seven-year work of passion by independent filmmaker Donna Musil, and BRATS features rare archival footage, home movies and private photographs from post-war Japan, Germany, and Vietnam.   Spirit of America helps American military and civilian personnel serving in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as people who call to Americans for help in their struggle for freedom and democracy. They fulfill requests from American personnel for goods that improve the lives of local people and thus help advance freedom and peace for others we provide the resources to successfully attain the dream of democracy. They have provided school and medical supplies, sewing machines, hand tools, watches, water barrels, clothing, soccer gear and toys in response to needs identified by American personnel. Our guest is Dennis Norris, Executive Director of Spirit of America. He will be discussing the Sprit of America story.

  Autism - One Military Mom's Grassroot Effort to Get Better Medical Coverage for Military Families

  This is such an important show! There are over 1.2 million children of active duty military personnel and over 13,000 have been diagnosed with autism. But, only 1300 though, are qualified to receive treatment under the extended care arm of the federal health care program TRICARE. Our guest is Karen Driscoll, a military wife and mother of 3 young children, one of whom has autism. She has lobbied Congress, claiming that the Pentagon's healthcare system is failing active-duty military families with autistic children, families like her own. This is a show you should not miss!

  HBO's Movie "Taking Chance" stars Kevin Bacon - Reviewed by Former Marine Officer David Danelo

  Our guest will be David Danelo, former Marine Officer and author of two books: Blood Stripes: The Grunt’s View of the War in Iraq and The Border: Exploring the US-Mexican Divide. Mr. Danelo writes regular articles for the U.S. Naval Institute’s flagship publication, Proceedings and has written a review of the HBO movie, Taking Chance which airs Feb 21, 2009. HBO’s movie, Taking Chance was written by Ross Katz and Michael Stobl. The movie is a dignified rendering of Marine Corps Lt. Col Michael Stobl’s escort home of a Marine slain in Iraq. It pays tribute not only to those who have died in battle, but also to all who bear witness to their final journey home.
