Join Jacqueline Foreman as she welcomes the amazing singer/songwriter/musician Valencia Bey to the show LIVE! Valencia, a Chicago-based singer, song writer and guitar player serves up an incredible blend of soul, rock and blues. Her voice has been compared to Nina Simone, Oleta Adams and Tracy Chapman. She has also been called a female Bill Withers. On electric guitar, she wails and keeps the rhythm steady. Her honest and thoughtful lyrics have touched many on her journey, and she's still growing and changing for the better. Her music is a mix of folk, rock and soul, but it just kinda happened that way, because she simply writes and sings what makes her happy. When it comes to singing and songwriting, Valencia likes to keep things simple, and that's working really well for her. She has received a number of songwriting awards, including the Academy of Gospel Music Association's Urban Gospel Song of the Year. She has also been recognized by VH1's Song of the Year.
