    CALL IN AT (347) 215-9536

Cynthia Parker is a Jackson/Michigan native, grew up in Clarklake during the late fifties and sixties, and currently lives in the downtown Jackson area. She is also very honored and grateful to be part of the Lost Word Writers of Jackson, a local group of diverse and talented writers and published authors meeting the first and third Tuesdays at the Carnegie Library. She has two collections of poetry that were recently published (2009) titled Spectrum & Origins

Spectrum is her first book of poetry and is a collection of 74 poems written and compiled over a ten-year period that reflect a spiritual journey across a spectrum of themes. She says her inspiration comes from nature, her faith, various encounters, and the people who have influenced her life. However, it is the struggle for redemption, and how Christ answers her deepest longings that have inspired her the most.

Origins is built around similar themes from nature, creation,  and spiritual hope, but she also draws from her personal past , growing up, and exploring her family history, and themes of shared humanity. Origins has 32 poems written more recently plus some nature haiku. Both books are largely free verse, but in addition to the few haiku, she has an occasional rhyme, or quatrain.

For many years, Cindy has enjoyed the language of poetry. It has given a voice to her innermost thoughts and feelings, and is a way to release that voice from her heart through times of great difficulty, and of profound joy.

She says she really owes a lot to her high school English teacher, Mrs. Rupple, who was always encouraging her and her classmates to explore writing and learning about different authors and styles of writing. That is why she began opening up to the world of poetry.

One of Cindy’s goals is to encourage others to discover their own voice in a meaningful way, because it will start a journey of discovery that will continue to unfold each day.

    Renée’s Review

    of

    Spectrum and Origins

    by

    Cynthia Parker

Poetry paints a picture. Poetry is the soul talking, and telling its story in as few words as possible. Poetry just happens to be my most favorite form of expression. Cynthia Parker has a real talent for painting great stories with her words and for speaking from the heart. Her recent release of Spectrum and Origins clearly make her a wordsmith worthy of recognition.

If you are looking for something to feed your creativity and give your life inspiration, pick up a copy of Cynthia Parker’s Spectrum & Origins. I highly recommend her work. Keep writing Cindy, but more importantly, keep sharing!
