If you love reading you will enjoy meeting Judith Woolcock Colombo author of Night Crimes.
According to her biography “Judith was born and raised on the island of Jamaica. She came to America in 1969 in order to attend Fordham University. Night Crimes is Ms. Colombo’s second published novel. Her first novel, The Fablesinger was published in 1989 by The Crossing Press. She is currently working on a new novel.
The author has worked as an adjunct English Instructor in several New York City colleges for over twenty years. In 2000, she and her husband Vincent, a retired NYPD. Sergeant of Detectives, moved from Park Slope, Brooklyn to rural upstate New York.”
Most people who travel the New York City subways have moments of paranoia. We squeeze ourselves into a narrow space between two robust fellow travelers and then feel threatened when someone’s hand accidently brushes against our thigh. We are convinced that everyone is looking at us strangely, or perhaps it’s just that man in the red shirt who dared to smiles at us. This suspicion of our fellow riders is the normal groundless fear that accompanies us on our daily journeys. Lara Bello, a Jamaican-American artist, has been having these feelings lately. She is convinced that someone is following her, watching her every move. But no one believes her, not even her loving husband. Police Sergeant Tony Bello. Why should he? There is no reason why someone should want to follow an art instructor. This is the argument Lara uses to convince herself while riding the subway that the feelings she’s experiencing are normal paranoia.
At the same time Lara’s husband is also caught up in his own mystery. Someone is poisoning derelicts and leaving their bodies for him and the bicycle squad to find. These two separate events begin the world of Night Crimes.
Judith weaves her characters into a complex tale of murder, obsession and duplicity.
We can all recall having those feelings of paranoia. So join us for a discussion about Night Crimes, mysteries, and the process of writing and publication with Judith Woolcock Colombo!

RENEE’S REVIEW
NIGHT CRIMES by Judith Woolcock Colombo
“Lara is being persistently pursued by a man in a blue baseball cap and Lara’s husband is immersed in his own mystery – the poisoning deaths of derelicts. These two distinct scenarios begin the world of Night Crimes. The plot is intricate and riveting, weaving a complex tale of murder, obsession, and duplicity.”
Judith Woolcock Colombo has given us a tale “Night Crimes” that keeps the reader turning the pages. I was enthralled with the story, impressed with the characters and thrilled to have found such a gifted author. As an avid reader, and partial to mysteries I found this one intriguing. Judith Woolcock Colombo is a master story teller with characters that are believable and real and a mystery you’ll enjoy! This is a great read!
