When asked why she writes strong women, Nancy Means Wright says:

"I want to create a role model for myself and my readers. I want to introduce a woman who is passionate about her work and her causes (whatever they may be); a woman who wants to transform the world. Even knowing it’s all but impossible, she wants to try! She may be conflicted and flawed, but she continually struggles to improve herself, along with the lives of others. She thinks for herself, is highly independent, and not afraid to take risks. I want to throw my own life, loves, doubts and fears into my characters and thereby strengthen myself, as well, to face this wacky, scary world."
