  • Writestream Tuesday with author Randy Kadish

    in Writing

Join author, blogger, writer and internet radio host Dariaanne for Writestream Tuesday on April 22 at 1 p.m. Eastern when she welcomes author Randy Kadish to the show. From the author's Amazon page:
I'm a native New Yorker. After a good deal of disappointment, I gave up writing. Then my mother passed away, and I found that fishing helped ease my grief. Almost accidently, I wrote and sold a fishing article. Afterwards, my articles and memoirs appeared in many publications, including The Flyfisher, Flyfishing & Tying Journal and Yale Anglers' Journal.
To me, much of my writing is about how the challenges of fishing and the beauty of the outdoors helped me come to terms with loss and with a world I can't always understand. In a sense, my writing is autobiographical, as it reflects my own gratifying, but at times, difficult journey of emotional and spiritual recovery.
On the long road of my journey, I slowly learned that, even when I don't have answers, I must strive to find forgiveness and self-worth and to connect to the good in the world. (This is how I define spirituality.) I therefore love books where the main characters struggle against inner and outer conflicts and then try to do what's right.
Please join Dariaanne and Randy on April 22 at 1 p.m. Eastern for some enlightening conversation. Your calls are welcome at 347-945-7246.

    The Importance of Empowering Teens
It is very important for parents to empower teens to be their best. Teens struggle quite a bit nowadays and they have many problems that we didn't have when we were adolescents. The culture demands certain things from adolescent girls and boys. But it is important for them to do mor than mimic what their peers and culture is saying and doing.  They need to become authentic individuals.  Here are a few ways that parents can empower teens:
Talk to your kids a lot about what their beliefs and values are as opposed to what the culture is dishing out to them; Empowering our children to be the best that they can be by believing in them and helping them be more responsible; Not beating them up when they make mistakes but to talk to them at length and try and correct them in the future; Developing a relationship of unconditional love with our children and teens; Developing honest and open interaction with our teens by having face to face chats on a consistent basis. By taking these steps we could saving our children to become the best that they can be. And this will help them be authentic adults as well--individuals who know what they like and dislike and can follow their inner voice.

During our time together, I'll be interviewing her about The Carolina Slade Mystery Series and most recently, Palmetto Poison, the third book to the series, which was just released in February 2014
Here's a bit about C. Hope Clark. I hope you can join us for what will be an informative and interesting interview.
    C. Hope Clark was born and reared in the South, from Mississippi to South Carolina with a few stints in Alabama and Georgia. The granddaughter of a Mississippi cotton farmer, Hope holds a B.S. in Agriculture with honors from Clemson University and 25 years’ experience with the U. S. Department of Agriculture to include awards for her management, all of which enable her to talk the talk of Carolina Slade, the protagonist in most of her novels. Her love of writing, however, carried her up the ranks to the ability to retire young, and she left USDA to pen her stories and freelance.
Hope is married to a 30-year veteran of federal law enforcement, a Senior Special Agent, now a contract investigator. They met on a bribery investigation within the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the basis for the opening scene to Lowcountry Bribe. Hope and her special agent live on the rural banks of Lake Murray outside of Chapin, South Carolina, forever spinning tales on their back porch, bourbon and coke in hand.
She also currently manages FundsforWriters.com, a weekly newsletter service she founded that reaches 45,000+ writers to include university professors, professional journalists and published mystery authors. Writer’s Digest has recognized the site in its annual 101 Best Web Sites for Writers for thirteen years.
