    Randomania #1

Hello kids, Chris here.  It's been a while since I posted my last (and first) blog, so I've decided to make an effort to serve up some thoughts on a semi-regular basis with a weekly blog called... three guesses... "Randomania".  Just some random (who knew?) thoughts I have on the wrestling world, sometimes topical, sometimes not, sometimes not even about wrestling.

Ah, February.  Besides the rain (after all, it IS Seattle), it's been good to me so far.  Played a badass gig this past Sunday at Mistress Juliya/Jagermeister's "Slave to the Metal" tour stop, Street Fighter IV comes out next week, and both Lamb of God and God Forbid, two of my favorite newer Metal bands, have albums coming out the week after.  Oh wait, I should have some thoughts on wrestling, huh?

    Let's see...

Watched Raw last night.  I don't know if it was normal or just show-before-PPV, but I thought it was pretty good, especially the matches.  By the way, did anyone else notice the WWE seemingly gloating about the Westminster Dog Show NOT being on over Raw, which was the case when it was on the USA Network before moving to TNN/Spike?  Also, did anyone read about PETA dressing like Klansmen to protest how the American Kennel Club promotes purebreed dogs for said Dog Show, like how Hitler wanted a master race?  I mean, I get your point, being against animal abuse and racism, but isn't it a little extreme?  I'm surprised they didn't get shot.  Anyway, what was the point of the Punk/Regal rematch if the title didn't change hands?  Again, no complaints about Punk having it or not watering down the title, but it seemed pointless.  Brandon seemed to call the Jericho/Flair thing, because I don't know how it WON'T happen after last night.  I personally am in no way saddened, because now, instead of leading Mickey Rourke through what could be an okay match, Jericho will get a decent-at-worst match with the Nature Boy, so it's win-win all around.

Speaking of celebs pulling out (tee hee) of 'Mania, it looks like AC/DC also backed out on playing at the Big One, which, by the way, was what Brandon was trying to remember last show when talking about news involving people backing out.  Combine this with the slower-than-expected ticket sales, and it looks like, financially, this might be a disappointing show for Vince.  Oh well, they'll find someone else who would be eager to play, like *yawn* Saliva.

So from here, it's iMPACT!, Smackdown!, then on to No Way Out (!).  Watching SD only reminds me of how McMahon treats his shows: Raw is where it's at, ECW and Smackdown! might as well be filler with the occasional big star.  Some advice, free of charge, to Titan Towers: kill off ECW and make Smackdown!  your televised developmental show.  It's almost there anyway, so that's less time, money, and manpower to worry about.

Anyway, hope you cats all have a good week.  I'm going to try to post a new Randomania once a week, but, thanks to being a product of the Video Game Generation, I have a short attention span and no short-term memory, so fingers crossed.  See ya Saturday!

    Horns Up!
    Chris, WRR

P.S.: In case you were wondering, the music we've been playing on the show these last two weeks is my band Systemik.  Check us out at www.myspace.com/systemikband.
