The precipitating event inspiring this podcast episode was a Reuters/Ipsos poll that purported popular opinion to be against a presidential candidate's lawful avoidance of whatever taxation he (or she) could legally avoid.

However, congressional intent and the widespread usage of tax credits, deductions, and other "loopholes" means that by not paying federal income tax, Donald Trump is more similar to the "average taxpayer" than what one might presume.
